Rifle Scopes Best Rings Vortex Razor Gen II on Ruger Precision

Any suggestions on the best setup for mounting a Gen II Razor 4.5-27 on a Ruger Precision?

I have used nightforce rings for my other scopes, but I'm wondering if it would be better to go with something from vortex for this scope. Also would like a scope level in the rear ring cap.

the vortex PMR rings are great. (made by seekins)

any of the above will serve you just fine. just pick your poison

Check out the Steiner rings with built in level on the top ring cap. Very nice quality and machining is top notch. Price is very reasonable for the product you get.
Also NF offers a ring cap with bubble level, but at close to $300 for the rings and cap, they aren’t giving them away. I have a set of the vortex (seekins) and they are good also. Don’t know if they offer a level for them.

If money isn't an issue go Sphur. If you are looking to save a bit or have time to spare I would wait till Badger releases their new unimounts. They've been saying it may be a matter of weeks. The bit thing you'll want to make sure is that you can still read your turrets so I would avoid a vertical split set up like LaRue.

Also consider MPA.

Neat. I had no idea they were making rings now. The price is definently a temptation to try them out. Good heads up.

Can't go wrong with Seekins. AR height would work on the RPR. Vortex Precision rings are made by Seekins as mentioned and excellent as well. Get a Vortex Lo Pro level mounted on the scope tube. Easier to install and get level than a ring cap level. Easily seen from behind the scope and out of the way. You can mount if so below the parallax knob too.

The XLR rings appear to be rebranded UTG pro rings. They are really nice rings actually and about $30 less for a set than the XLR rings. I will admit I had my reservations about anything branded UTG but the pro rings are some really nice rings for the money. I have some high end rings that I paid 5-6 times what I paid for the UTG rings and I actually think the UTG’s May be a more solid ring. You can get the UTG pro rings for about $45 if you shop around.

For ease of mounting, ARC is hard to beat IMO.

No as they are Seekins and Seekins says not to lap. If your base is on straight you are fine. I haven't ever lapped a set of seekins rings.

Very happy with the rings.
Also do yourself a favor and don't chince out on rings for your scope/rifle combo.
Utg makes stuff for dirt cheap that truly shouldn't go on anything other than a airsoft imo.
With the investment you have in your rifle and scope. What's another 200$ or less for a quality set of rings that you won't have to worry about.

Same setup except I run the vortex rings. The only other difference is I run the bubble on the bottom towards the rear of the scope-makes it easier to pop open my left eye and have it right there for last minute checks before the shot.

Yes I could have used the high rings. I just went with the extra high cuz I can get behind the scope a little easier.

And yes I'm using the defender caps. I see no reason to use anything else. They work great.

Badger Ordnance rings and a rail mounted bubble level that flips in and out for easy stowing mounted so it can be viewed by your non-dominant eye while on scope.

I encountered an unusual problem when I mounted my 4.5-27x56 Razor with 0.92" rings. The scope bell was close to to the barrel but I had enough room for caps. Rifle is built around a Stiller TAC-30 action with Stiller 20MOA rail. With those low rings, I only had maybe 1/8-1/4" of clearance between rail and magnification ring in the back and the bell in the front. No problem. It fit, barely. I just had no front-rear adjustability.

From the outset with this rifle, I had ejection issues. About 10-20% of my empty cases ended up laying in the breech. I suspected a weak ejector spring or worn extractor (action was "pre-owned").

A call to Stiller gave the answer - the empty case was bouncing off the windage turret right back into the breech. It happened so fast that it could only be seen clearly with slow-motion video. Stiller's recommendation was to move the scope forward 3/8" - but I couldn't do that for reason described above.

So I ended up buying a set of 1.26" rings (I use Vortex PMRs on all my rifles). Extraction issue eliminated.

No reason to look elsewhere. The Defenders work great and are priced right. Much stronger than the cheap butler creeks.

As for height, he touched on it but sometimes super low isn't comfortable to get behind. You can get it lower but you might have an issue getting a good sight picture. There is a reason even 1-6x24 and other lower powered optics are set in the higher AR height rings.

The scope caps on a 4.5-28x56 are around 2.780-2.800" so you can use that to figure height.

My setup with the XLR rings. Not bashing seekins, I've used them too, but for the price, these XLR rings do the trick.
