I promise I searched, but can’t find the specific info I need… Looking for a steel scope base, zero or 20 MOA max, with integrated recoil lug for my Rem 700 LA that’s been trued, and has the mounting holes opened up to take #8-40 screws.

I like the Nightforce and Spuhr rails, but can’t find anything re: whether or not they can take #8 screws without redrilling them.

Thought the Badger Ordnance would work, but can’t seem to find the correct one in stock anywhere.

Closest I can find is the Area 419 that has both #6 and #8 screw’s included. This one:

… in fact that one looks like the best deal for the money based on my limited knowledge, but it’s aluminum. I know Area 419 has a solid rep for quality work, but know nothing about their scope bases.

GTG, or is there something else I should be looking at?

Spuhr definitely won’t take #8 screws, it specifically says this on the rail product description on their website. Area 419 are a good option, I have one on a Bergara Premier action which takes #8 screws, no need to be put off by it being aluminium.

Call Near Manufacturing and he’ll make one for you. I consider them the best scope bases around. Integrated recoil lug. Ovalized holes.

Below is a link to some pics of his base+ring combo (he makes pic rails with the same bottom). http://nearmfg.com and http://trg42.com

Call, don’t email. He’s not the most internet savvy dude but a true master of the cnc.

EGW HD bases come with both #6 & #8 screws in the package. 👍🏼 Highly recommend the EGW HD bases. I use them on everything.
