Hey guys, just bought a CZ 457 and looking for the best options to top it off with. I have a Vortex PST Gen2 5-25 that's not on a rifle so I'm leaning towards that, but I wanted to see what everyone is running. Is there something else out there in the $1000 price range that's better than the PST?

Most anything you like but it would be beneficial if it parallaxes down to 25 yards or less. Although I've not seen closer than 46 yards in the matches I've done. Only one of those was NRL22 though.

I shot my first NRL22 club match today and I'd say it was 40% Athlon Cronus, 40% Vortex PST, 20% mix of high end scopes. I think the PST would be a good starting point to go and try and if you don't like it you can swap it out.

Ares ETR on the px for 850-900 is a really good deal. Parallax below 25 yards. Really like the floating dot for those small targets.

I'm running an Athlon BTR 4.5-27. I see a lot of Athlons and many high end scopes on Vudoos. Your budget is your only limiting factor. I do suggest a Christmas tree type reticle. I see guys struggling w/ "hunting" scopes that are just crosshairs and dots.

If you're not feeling spendy, the Vortex Diamondback Tactical FFP options are good for the 100yd matches. Our club only has 100yd and I run a 4-16x. Whatever you get, make sure it focuses down to 25yd.

I’ve owned a PST and Athlon Midas Tac, and truthfully I didn’t feel like I saw much of a step down in glass quality when using the Midas Tac. So if there is anything else you needed to put money towards, buying a Midas Tac would be ~$400 less than the PST and would give you some play money to upgrade your rifle more. But if an optic is the last piece of puzzle, I think the PST would do very well for you.

Why would he buy a cheap Vortex when he already has a Vortex PST II?

Did you read his question, at all?

OP, the scope you already have is good enough. Stick it on the rifle and go shoot. Once you have a season under your belt you'll have the knowledge to make the best decision for you, without regard to what others use or don't use.

I will be running an Optisan EVX 6-24X50 FFP on my T1X. Definitely not better than the OP's Vortex PST Gen2 5-25; I am merely posting this to say that I can (if ever needed) focus down to 10-yards with the Optisan. I have used this scope quite a bit on a few of my airguns, and felt this to be a viable option for my T1X.

Use what you have. The Vortex PST is a great optic for a 22 and you already own it. I really can’t see you ever needing anything more for a rimfire.
