Best single stage AR match trigger?

So I may wanna go with a single stage for my match AR. This is a question then in two parts:

1. What is the best single stage AR trigger you'd recommend whose weight I can adjust after installation (by set screw or other mechanism, etc.)?

and 2. If you know of none, what about one that is at least adjustable by some easy method like spring bending, etc.?

I'd like an extremely crisp, rather light (< 3lbs.) trigger that I can ideally tweak to my heart's content (hence post-installation adjustment being a big win). Price isn't a huge issue.

Thanks guys!

Re: Best single stage AR match trigger?

Most adjustable AR triggers I have used are 2 stage. Although not adjustable, I have used the Timney and McCormick drop in triggers with great results, which are set around 3#. I have adjusted the Jewell and Geissele 2 stage triggers to feel like a single stage trigger.

Kirk - interesting to hear you say this. I have a Jewell right now and I do like how I can tweak it to pretty much be anything - crisp two stage, soft two stage, roll trigger, etc. I was at the range today trying to remember how to "convert it" into a single stage and couldn't quite remember which adjustments to make. Care to enlighten me?

Yup,the JARD triggers usually measured a little less than what the spring was rated at. They feel like a long, smooth Rem 700 trigger pull. You have to have far more sear engagement on a single stage semiauto trigger than a bolt action or you end up with a fullauto rate bump fire situation.

Re: Best single stage AR match trigger?

My only concern is that the JPs only seem to go down to 3-3.5. I have to check mine on a weight, but I think my current one is slightly less than that. I want crisp, but light as well. Jard seems interesting.

Re: Best single stage AR match trigger?

The JARD's are very smooth and can be very light. 3-3.5 is pretty light for a semiauto. On both of my triggers, the break is usually a surprise with no build up prior to release. The instructions have to be properly followed when installing and adjusting the trigger. Proper follow through has to be used on a light AR trigger. If you hold the rifle loosely and don't pull the trigger fully to the rear, the rifle can push into the shoulder under recoil, then push back forward causing your stationary finger to trip the trigger again.

I have a Jard on mine, probably 2.5 pounds, nice trigger. It sill certainly bump fire if you hold it loosely on the bench.
