I am looking for some suggestions for stock replacement for CZ 457 Varmint. The CZ wood stock is beautiful, just looking for something that would be more durable and possibly paintable.

Would like to stay around 300.00, since the rifle was 600.00.

Thanks in advance!

IMO... Best bang for the buck. KRG Bravo as a chassis and Boyd's At-One for a more traditional style.
Of course there are many good options and this is only my personal opinion.

Edit to add... The Boyd's Pro Varmint or the factory Pro Varmint are very decent stocks...
I always thought the Pro Varmint stock was under rated. I don’t currently have one, but short of a chassis or a Manners it the next best thing, wide forend, good grip area, heavier and more solid than regular wood. I do have an At One unfired, but would rather have the Pro Varmint.

KRG Bravo is a great option, I just ordered one. It has a traditional style look and feel to it, but offers some modularity like a chassis (such as swapping out the forend). This giveflexibility bility to upgrade it down the road.

I do like the Boyds At-One as well, it's what I currently have. However, the action doesn't lock up as solid as I would like (still shoots very good) so it should be pillar and/or glass bed, and it's a bit small. I ended up having to add a spacer to the cheek Riser and but pad to get it to fit me (5'10").

I picked up the XLR Element 4.0. This adds the integrated arca rail in a light chassis. Add the ERGO vertical grip and you have the best rimfire setup available IMO.

I picked up a great quality chassis from Grey Birch. Fits perfect and great quality.
I paid around $600 Canadian delivered.

Even though the rifle was only $600, it's a great barreled action and it's worthy of a nice chassis/stock. Much like it's worth a piece of great glass on top of it. I have way more in to the glass and chassis than the actual rifle cost me originally, but it's not wasted money.

So I wouldn't use the original cost of the rifle to limit the stock options you look at.

I put my son's 457 in an XLR Element and it's been a great setup. We couldn't be happier with how it shoots.

What's the barrel length and rail length on that? How much room is there between the rail and the can?

I'm Liking the rigid.
The barrel is the Area 419 Lilja 18.5" threaded barrel. The Handguard I picked is 13.6" in length, the barrel sticks out 1 1/4" from edge of handguard. I had plenty of room for the suppressor to be threaded on. There are two choices for the handguard (12" or 13.6").

Thanks. Looks like I'd be better off with the 12" for my 16" factory barrel.

I've got the At-one that I was gonna put pillars in and bed, but I kind of like the screw it in a new chassis and don't mess with it plan better.

for under 300 dollars you could customize the stock your gun arrived with I don't remember which company offered it but they make the hardwear for the adjustable cheak piece and the hardwear adjustable but plate for the cz you would just have to cut the pieces of the stock and modify it as you wanted . Just another option there was a video on youtube of someone doing just this with an cz 457 varment mtr so it functions more like the cz at one chassis .

Agreed. I bedded my 455 to the pro varmint and it's still shooting better than my B14r.

Haven't seen one in person, but Rigid has at least one fan here

Except for the fact that they're out of stock, they run $300 or less

to reply to myself: I ended up talking myself in a KRG Bravo. Was getting ready for my first centerfire match, so haven't shot the rifle in the chassis yet.

I like the handgrip so far.

Need an ARCA rail now. Discovered that the flat bottom reduces my wobble shooting off barricades. Didn't mean more hits last Sat, but I think that was a few reasons that wasn't the rifle's fault
