That tutorial posted is spot-on. A couple years ago on another forum a guy wanted tips on painting a rifle, so I grabbed one out of the safe and painted just to post pics for him. I'm weird like that. LOL. Thought I'd share them...
The Krylon camo paints are great. I figure guys are either Krylon guys or they aren't. I am because I treat my guns well and take care of them but they are tools. I can easily touch up the Krylon or hit with another color if I am going somewhere the foliage will be different.
You really need to degrease the host weapon! I simply spray with brake cleaner...
Then wipe down with a clean cloth...
I wanted a lighter coat with darker highlights. So, I applied the dark base layer first.
While that base is drying grab some foliage.
And trim to lay flat on the host.
Then place it on the host and start your spraying. You want to keep 8"-10" away from the surface you are painting and keep your hand moving.
After the first tan dusting...
Larger leaves left a few small places for some darker brown highlights.
