Black Hat Training Corps (http://bhtcorps.com) is running a two day precision rifle training course.
Full details and registration at:
http://bhtcorps.com/041010reg.html
This two day course incorporates engagements from 100 to 600 yards, and is tailored to the new, or intermediate skill level shooter who is interested in building solid fundamentals, shaking out the proper use of their gear, de-mystifying the trajectory and range estimation math, and encroaching into intermediate territory with moving targets, holdovers, and popups. Round count is what you want to shoot. We recommend 75 per day.
Day 1 (LRGC) will be comprised of classroom instruction, chronograph work, and zeroing at 100/200 yards. Day 2 will be at NHRPC (600 yards) and will be live fire all day.
Concepts to be covered include:
# BRM Review (Basic Rifle Marksmanship Fundamentals, precision rifle specifics of BRM)
# Setting up your shooting position
# Properly recording your engagement data in a data book (we can provide impact data books tuned to the course)
# Communication and terminology
# Spotter-shooter communication and dialogue
# How to give the shooter information - properly calling hits and misses
# Zeroing - Establishing and maintaining a good precision rifle zero
# Equipment choices for the precision shooter
# Optics, focal planes
# How to avoid three common MISStakes with optics.
# Care and maintenance of the precision rifle platform
# Exterior Ballistics, MET/ENV, and the science of trajectory calculation
# Using a chronograph, and a ballistic calculator
# Reticle based range estimation
# Reticle based holds (against wind, for elevation)
# Introduction to moving target engagements
# Making the most out of uneven ground, or unusual circumstances
# Rapid Bolt Engagement drills
# Unusual/Hasty Position shooting
Cost is a very reasonable $220 which includes lunch on day 1 (with homemade baked ziti).
Price to follow on the data book
Particular questions about gear suitability and the course are entertained at
