However, it says it will end online sales for firearms and ammo, but this is pretty broad. So does that mean we won't be able to buy any reloading supplies or parts for our firearms? Some of us, don't have retail locations near them and our only option is to buy online.

None of that will matter because there is the part in his plan that state's your firearms will be required to stay locked in your home . So if you can't ever take your firearm from your home then what good will it be.

Agree with you. It about personal politics. Not the left or right, but building a relationship where you are able to use influence in both a tactical and strategic manner. It’s something that isn’t exactly inherent in most “gun guys”.

You convince any of the recognized parties to nominate someone I feel is worthy of my vote and I’ll vote. But since all of the nominees from any party are just a bunch of fucking cartoon characters they can all get bent

You aren't voting for the person, you are voting for the policies which most closely resemble the version of America you want to live in. Sitting out the election by not voting is not the way...

I have friends that used to feel like this. I told them for me voting most of the time is like my house being on fire I am trying to save it and I got three choices. I can add gas to the fire and go ahead and burn it to the ground, I can try to save it by adding water, or I can just sit back and watch it burn then bitch when nothing is left worth saving. I will let you choose who I think is gas and water.

I get it, it’s just that I separated what I can control, and what I can’t, a long time ago.

For other people, I look at the actions/results of their job. Holding someone else to my personal standards of morality and ethics is a sure way to be constantly disappointed, and not something I can control. Voting doesn’t endorse behavior, it endorses policy and results.

ETA: TBH, that was the hardest thing I had to learn, when I transitioned from the Marines, into the civilian work force (I grew up in the military); not holding people to a common standard. They’re civilians; they don’t have to adhere to a common standard and that’s their right, for better or worse.

I get the feeling we're on the same page on a lot of major issues, at least from an ideological standpoint. At what point do you accept the fact that your (maybe our?) ideology is an unrealistic expectation? When does pragmatism come into play?

Strict adherence to ideological values only works in the academic realm, where professors have tenure and students aren't subject to the realities of the world outside of campus walls yet. Either:

A.) Biden is elected, the federal government grows, taxes go up and individual freedoms are restricted.
B.) Trump is elected, the federal government most likely stays where it is, taxes remain at similar levels, and individual freedoms remain relatively unchanged. Not ideal... I get it... but it's definitely better than option A.

I implore you to reconsider abstaining from voting. Lets not make things more complicated than they have to be. Lets roll with the punches together.

To me the important thing is, who do you support. Who do you hope will win the election? You can be a non-voter and say “I don’t want to sanction the state” and not vote, but on election night who do you hope the rest of the voters, the rest of the suckers out there who are voting, who do you hope they’ll elect. And it’s important, because I think that there is a difference. The Presidency, unfortunately, is of extreme importance. It will be running or directing our lives greatly for four years. So, I see no reason why we shouldn’t endorse, or support, or attack one candidate more than the other candidate. I really don’t agree at all with the non-voting position in that sense, because the non-voter is not only saying we shouldn’t vote: he is also saying that we shouldn’t endorse anybody.

I’m pretty much a libertarian on almost all issues but I doubt we will ever get the majority to accept a system that is based on individualism, so I have voted for conservatives for as long as I have been voting. It used to be just the lesser of 2 evils for me, now it’s just voting against insanity. I struggled with this myself (still do sometimes) and I'm a civilian. Fortunately, my current employment situation everybody is committed to the product, not to climbing the ladder as their primary commitment. So, as a result, the "holding people to a standard" has fallen by the wayside as everybody is very professional. Not so previous endeavors and it really make things difficult.

That said my father ran his own business, served in Korea and went through The Depression and WW2. Those qualities were passed along even if not "intentional." So yes, expecting other people to have same morality and ethics is setting oneself up for disappointment. Took me a long time to realize that as I'd never been in that situation until "the workforce."
