Hey Guys,

Shot this monster Idaho coyote with my hunting buddy last weekend in the Owyhee Mts. Just for reference my dog weights 83 lbs. Enjoy

i don't see a lot of images from older threads since the change. don't know if its something to do with the service they stored the photos with or the way they were uploaded? maybe a setting i need to change that i haven't found yet

Dang that thing looks like some kind of hybrid! If it is a true coyote,83 lbs. would beat the world record.
Do you have any more pictures of him? Really interested on how his colors and body shape look. The really long legs and flatter face is throwing him off..Not saying you don't,but not sure you have a coyote there.
Still a beauty however!

yeah if that's a 26" barrel set behind just a random guess but I'm guessing your looking at close to 40" without the tail. I've NEVER seen anything that big hell until now I've never heard of one that big!

Just a guess but I'm saying your looking at some type of hybrid

Paul, very nice. Do you skin them out and keep the hides? We are over run with coyotes here down by the Ohio river east of Cincinnati and also have many large 1,s running around. They have plenty to eat and no natural predators to worry about but man.

He said for comparison The Lab is 83 pounds. I haven't seen a weight of the coyote or coyote/ dog anywhere in the thread.

Yes, I do skin the hides and send them to auction in Canada. I would estimate his weight to be in the 50# range. Remember that the camera adds 10 lbs. Ha Ha.

Paul

That'll depend on your state game and fish regs, hk401. In several states, no, you don't need a license because they are over populated, but some states have weird rules. I wouldn't expect weird rules from WY, but you never know. Looking at the WY game and fish website, I don't see anything about them.

I never hunt coyote before, do you need to buy the license to hunt coyote?

can't see the picture, but 2 cents here in PA. it is confirmed that the coyotes have wolf DNA in them, and are rather large and getting bigger.

all the coyote contests going on post january in our state are producing with consistancy 50+ lbers. a study over that few years by the biologists proved the DNA findings by extracting samples and getting them to the lab.

interestingly, game officials back in the mid 70's whole hearted said there are no coyotes in PA, kinda makes me wonder about the claims of there are no mtn lions in PA. anymore, though many have reported them in the wild.

Good lord, my biggest yote i have got since i started keeping track was just under 45 lbs but like you guys getting hybrids, we have alot that seem to be crossing with farm dogs and seem to be very red colored and small. Really sucks when i comes time for the buyer to grade.

I'm with those who are guessing it isn't coyote DNA -- or at least not all.

Really beautiful animal. If I had a big enough place I would have the whole thing mounted. Would love to have my own life-size diorama like at a Bass Pro Shop.
