Bipod Recommendations for PRS match? !

Hi All,
I shoot an AI AXMC (6.5 creedmoor). Last month was my first PRS competition and I realised that the atlas bipod is a pain to use during PRS match. Takes too much time to fold/unfold. Are there any better options for a bipod? I am flexible with budget, rather buy one, cry once. Will be appreciative if experienced members can share some options/suggestions. Thanks

Thanks for the reco...but does it not have the same issue as the atlas...to fold/unfold, you have to reach out to the front of rifle and press a button.

Never had much of an issue with an Atlas but if you want fast to fold and unfold wouldn't a Harris be the quickest?

I’ll catch well deserved flak for this, but I have a harris with a length of paracord tied between the legs. Deploying is just a matter of pulling the cord back.

The Harris will be the fastest deploy bipod followed by the Accu Tac pull method. The Atlas really isnt that bad. Just practice deploying and adjusting it in different positions and find it be less of an issue.

I run a Harris and they are pretty quick...

...But as others have said, if you know that’s a weakness then budget a few minutes a night in figuring out your way of deploying them faster in different situations.

Ckye Pod and dry fire practice so manipulating the controls can be done by feel. The flexibility and ability to get high or low is always useful

Magpul doesn’t have a lock in the stowed position either. Just sweep the legs down and they will latch in the deployed position.

Just get a Harris. Easy to deploy or close and will do what you need at matches.

Harris is fastest for sure, just limited in the two positions. I started using a Warne recently. Pricey but very well made. Slower than a Harris, faster than an Atlas.

Also, the suggestion to practice is pure gold.

Why don’t you get an ARCA rail for your rifle and your Atlas, and instead of messing with folding it on a stage that goes from prone to positional you can just take it off.

However, if you found yourself wasting time messing with it you’ve identified a weakness that you can either solve with different gear (hard to beat an Atlas, which is why so many run them), or you can sit in your barkalounger with your comp rifle across your lap, while watching TV, and deploy and retract the legs till you’re doing it in your sleep. All of a sudden that muscle memory will make you forget this was ever an issue for you.
Really there are alternatives as good as an Atlas, but nothing clearly better. The ONLY advantage of a Harris is the spring loaded legs, and everything you would sacrifice for that isn’t worth it.

Harris is your fast one. All the rest I think use some sort of locking button like you mention on the Atlas.

I'm not a big fan of the Atlas, I'd recommend looking at LRA. Depending on what you shoot and how will dictate the one you want. They make big, heavy duty F class shit and bipods for BMG's. They also make their Ultralight Scout and that's the one you may be interested in if looking at Atlas and Harris.

Then there's Ckye pod. From what I've seen, it's pretty badass. However, it has even more precise adj. than the others do. How fast you can deploy it I don't know.

Harris for fastness, Ckye pod for extreme range of adjustability. I’ve used atlas bipods in every match but one and never had an issue with deployment on the clock but I would just practice a bunch when you’re not shooting matches. It’s easy to do at home, set a timer and get to work practicing until you feel you have it down.

I’ve seen some guys deploy a atlas extremely fast, hardly lose any time with practice. My area has a lot of field type stuff, recently shot off a lot of sandstone, everything was uneven. I think I’m going with a ckye pod soon for the adjustability. I don’t mind giving up a little time to get a more stable position in the front if he rifle. Just watch the sales forum and you can eventually try everything

Yep.

Never had an issue, always 40 minutes between stages so I have plenty of time to prepare. Never met a match that I had to fold during a stage.

I still take both in preparation for the day it happens though

No. It folds out like a Harris you do have to hit a latch to fold it. Great bipod.

Well not on the clock, I mean. Admittedly I probably don’t shoot as varied a match as you do.

Different stages are deployed vs not deployed, prone vs positional, but Ive never have to go from laying prone up to a small port hole or anything requiring folding in the same stage that I can think of...

If it’s a small enough hole I’ll just take it off altogether instead of leaving it on so often enough I just go bag only.

I can also usually just hang it over the edge too so its never really interfered with anything.

That’s where the issues come in going small after prone. Or even going from a certain prop to another where the bipod won’t work. If you have arca you could just slide it off as an option but hopefully don’t need it again. Lol
