Bix N Andy TacSport Triggers for Rem 700

I've read some good reviews online about these but the search function came up empty for threads on this site. Anybody able to enlighten me on the pros/cons of these triggers? It seems they are highly regarded elsewhere.

I have the 2 stage Tacsport triggers in both my PRS rifle and ELR (.300NM) rifle. Absolutely love them.

They feel great, especially once you get them dialed in to your preferred settings. Adjustability is great - 1st stage, 2nd stage, sear engagement.

Mine wouldn't work with my Rem 700, slamming the bolt forward would set it off unless I jacked the sear engagement up to a ridiculous amount making it into a terrible feeling trigger. Had my smith move it to my defiance and he got it to 6 oz and I could slam the bolt hard and it wouldn't go off. It did have a problem with the stupid extra safety pin thing and was extremely difficult to turn the safety off and on so I had my smith take it off. That Rem 700 action isn't great though, if you lift the bolt the trigger doesn't reset until you move it slightly back. I am not a gunsmith so I can't say what the cause of that is but I know the Defiance doesn't have that problem. If I had to do it again I would go Trigger Tech Diamond. ymmv

Edit: Also, when I was testing the slam fire on the Rem 700, the damn pin which holds the bolt release fell out and when I put it back in the bolt release would stick. I had the smith take the Timney CE out of my Defiance and put it in the Rem 700 but he could only get it down to 1lb 4 oz and it is supposed to be able to go to 8 oz, which again seems to point to a problem with the Rem 700.

I have about 8 Two stage B&A triggers on my guns. Either use these or Huber Two stage all the time! Have never had a slam fire issue!

Sounds like you had the wrong sear in the trigger. Bullet Central is great to work with in order to get the trigger with the right sear. If it doesn't come with the right sear, they will make it right.

I'm not really sure what headache you are talking about?

And the TT Diamond is not really comparable - it's a single stage trigger. While I think that TT makes arguably the best single stage trigger, I believe a good 2 stage trigger is superior to a single stage. I got rid of my TT and don't miss it.

I sold my TT Diamond and bought a tac sport pro and couldnt be happier. I have a tl3 so bulletcentral put in the sear designed for that action at no charge. I have the first stage set at 5 oz and the second set at 7 oz. put over 500 rounds down range with it and tons of dry firing and have never had a slam fire. The sear engagement was very easy to set. The diamond was a great trigger but I prefer the two stage and it is light years better than the two stage Calvin elite I tried in the past.

I guess I missed where the o.p. Wanted a 2 stage. Single stage tac sport pro vs tt diamond is no comparison in my opinion. If o.p. Wants a 2 stage then that definitely rules out the diamond. Had 3 single stage tac sport pro triggers and all 3 sucked, crazy creep and didn’t go as light as they advertised without slam firing. Maybe I had the adjustments wrong but I’ve never had problems with any other triggers

I did the measurement shown in their video, the Rem 700 fell smack dab in the middle of the sear they ship it with. I am betting it is just a problem with the bolt timing or the trigger section was out of spec somehow. Like I said, when you open the bolt on the Rem 700 the trigger does not reset until you pull the bolt back a little, the Defiance will reset the trigger immediately. I mean it is a new Rem 700, we know it doesn't have great tolerances.

Although I wasn't specific, I am looking for 2 stage triggers. Thanks for the input none the less, if I want to look at single stage I'll definitely give the TT a look.

It goes much lower than that. I run a TacSport and mine is set to 7oz on the 2nd stage and next to nothing on the 1st.

I think Long Range 338 misread the whole spec on trigger pull weight, according to the Bullet Central website:

Tac Sport- trigger pull RANGE from 10 oz. to 4.5 lbs.
Tac Sport Pro- trigger pull range from 3.5 oz. to 2lb3oz

Basically pull weight is the difference the user will know. To make the pull weight less they have to machine and fit some of the parts a little bit differently that takes time and added a little cost. So many shooters will never need or want a trigger less than 10 oz. so we kept the original TacSport lineup and added the Pro for competitive shooters.

I am sorry that you had this experience in your Remington 700. Some of the Rem 700 actions have a different cocking piece to top sear measurement (some of the custom actions out there have this too)
