Re: blackhawk dropleg holster

I've got one for my Kimber think its great. The two drop straps keep the rig from "walking" around your belt.

Re: blackhawk dropleg holster

i would agree with LoneWolf, i used the Serpa drop leg in iraq for an M9 and it shit the bed on me three weeks into the deployment. I then ordered a SafariLand and never had a problem out of it, i loved that holster. Go with safariland

Re: blackhawk dropleg holster

My unit was issued the blackhawk drop legs holster before we deployed. I took it to my pistol course and was done with it after the first day. Honestly, I just use a leather belt holster for my M9. Much faster to draw than using a leg holster, and pretty comfortable. Plus, if you have a long patrol, less chance of chaffing since you don't have leg straps. My .02

Re: blackhawk dropleg holster

At first I thought this question was about the Blackhawk Omega dropleg, which I would vehemently NOT recommend. I had my M9 fly out of the holster while sprinting during a mortar attack. I subsequently got a lanyard.

I now use a Safariland 6004 and it's great. I cut the corners off the 'board', took out the top strap, and shortened the hanging strap. This brings the whole rig up much higher, more on the side of your hip than down on your thigh. Much more stable, doesn't swing back and forth as much when running, still clears outer body armor, and draw position is very similar to my standard duty belt.

I wish I had read this post a week ago...I just bought a blackhawk serpa dropleg. Sounds like I should have checked out the safariland

Re: blackhawk dropleg holster

Get a 6004, remove the top strap and bring it up lightfighter style, draws are fast and easy with practice, and the security of the weapon is top notch.
