Blind mag ?

Installed a B&C Medalist on my 10FP and after I put it together I noticed that the bolt was riding on top of the rounds in the mag. I took it back apart and reconfigured the mag a little and the same thing. I took it back apart again and wiggled the blind mag and put the action on top of it and the bolt will pick up a round now. My question: When I fire this at the range will the recoil mess up the blind mag as to move it inside of the stock and then will I be right where I started before, or will the action keep it from moving and keep it in place? This is the only complaint I have with my Medalist stock and with the Blind mag not snapping in place in my B&C, like it will in my factory stock. Any suggestions?

Re: Blind mag ?

I thought the blind mag box was affixed to the action?

It is on my model 12, as a matter of fact, I couldn't get the damn thing off when doing a barrel change.

Re: Blind mag ?

On the "old style" staggered feed Savage actions (4.25" guard screw spacing) the blind mag box is dovetailed into the bottom of the receiver. On the "new style" center feed actions (4.4" G.S. spacing) it is held in place in the stock with metal clips on both ends to secure it tightly into the stock. Make sure the stock you have is compatible with the action you have.

Re: Blind mag ?

I do have the new style with the 4.40 screw spacing. There is one L shaped bracket that coincides with the rear of the metal clip but when pushed down into the stock it will not hold itself into place. It does hold itself into place on the original factory stock but not into this one. I am certain I have the right stock but would this be an issue of returning it to B&C for eval or what should I do? Im not trying to make a mountain of a problem out of this but I would like to know if anyone else has this same style stock with the blind mag and if theirs indeed "snapped" into place and maybe mine just wasn't cut right. Thanks.
