My new job requires me to walk about 20 miles a day. Steel toe was just a personal thing and not a boot requirement. I'm gunna be wearing body armour, duty belt(all the fixings), shotgun, and handgun. Well I decided to spring for the best and was having a hard time swallowing the Danner pill. BUT my father happens to know a guy who is a distributor for Danner so he cut me a deal and I got the boots for $220 after tax.
When I ordered the boots I didn't even bother to try them on. I just had the guy measure my foot to be sure it was what I ordered. Boots came in and initial fit felt a bit tight in the front toe area, but I'd see if I'd just try them anyway.
I polished them up and decided I would break them in before I officially get on the new jobsite. I wore them all last night and my foot sank into them really well. they were snug, but not in the least bit uncomfortable. The soles didn't clank like a hard vulcanized sole will do. They have a leather tongue all the way up the boot, which will make it comfortable on the shins. My hunting boots are thick and not pliable in the tongue and it gets uncomfortable fast. Disclaimer I did have discomfort on the shins because I wore ankle socks. If I wore full length socks I'd be fine.
The boots stayed laced up nice and tight
I took the boots off an hour ago and my feet felt great!!! No foot fatigue, no hotspots. I can't imagine needing to break these in, cuz they were just dandy. I'd say they were just as heavy as my timberland pro's, which I can wear all day no problem. I was expecting lead weights, so I got a bit of a surprise
I'll update this thread in a couple of months with pictures of how the boots have held up to daily walking
