Recently purchased my first Borden Alpine for a 223 rifle. Great action but I need to take it apart to get Cerakoted.

I put the bolt assembly in my Remington mainspring compression tool and it turns out the bolt shroud on the Borden is fine thread vs coarse on Remington and clones.

Calling Borden they told me that they did that on purpose so people don't use aftermarket bolt shrouds and would happily sell me a special tool.

Since I'm only going to do once, I strolled the hardware aisle and came up with this:

2 joist hangers bolted together and 1) 1/2 inch fine thread nut for the shroud and 1) 1/2 inch coarse nut for the bolt of my existing tool. Total cost - $4.

Drill a hole on each end and it works good enough.
