Go to savageshooters forum and ask those guys. If it's a Savage they will know. Also they have vendors with LOTS of add ons for the Savage.

I believe all of Savage's 308 barrels are a 10 twist. My 308 likes the Hornady 168A-Max with 43.5 grains of Varget, loaded at 2.810 in Lapua brass. Sierra 175MK with 42.5 grains of Varget, at the same COL, also in Lapua brass. Both these loads are with CCI BR2 primers. The Federal Gold Medal Match 168's are great to get a benchmark with, but is to expensive to use regularly when you can reload. All of these are easy sub-MOA though my Savage.

also try the savage site for all the specs on the rifle. they can tell you all the details you need. twist rate, weight and length and spec for your model. look in the reloading area, there are a few threads about 308 loads and 2 i think about savage loads. makes no real dif if its a savage or remy or win load, you can use it as a start but yours may like something a little different. i use the loads listed as an average. find 10 loads using whatever powder and take an average and reduce a little and work up. even if you got lucky with a load someone posted you would have to go thru how many? i looked at that ladder test post. looks like a decent way to work up a load. any pics of the rifle? i am looking at a model 11 action. is yours stainless or blued? blued i thought. pics? what barrel?
