I'm planning to pick up a Boyd's ProVarmint stock for a rifle I'm throwing together, and I'm stuck on chosing a recoil pad. I'm unsure of whether the upgraded pads are worth the extra recoil mitigation, or what other benefits they might give. Do they have more stiction in the shoulder? Do they last longer? I've heard a lot of people like their Pachmayr pad, and the Kick Eez is well liked too, but I haven't felt either to figure out if they're worthwhile, and have no clue if either one is gonna degrade quickly and require replacement in a few years.
For background, the rifle is a Savage Axis with an 18" 11VT 308 barrel. It intermittently wears a muzzle brake and sees a lot of rounds in a session, so cutting recoil would be nice. The current recoil pad on the synthetic stock works well and I definitely don't want to lose any mitigation compared to it.
TL;DR Boyd's recoil pad, Pachmayr, or Kick-Eez?
