If this is in the wrong place, my bad- wasn't sure whether the Rimfire of gunsmithing section would be better.
I just got a Boyds Tacticool stock for my Ruger 10-22. It is awesome, and I really like it, but I think I may have a problem.
I seem to be getting a good bit of side-to-side movement of the receiver when it's mounted in the stock, even with the action screw tightened as hard as it will go.
It seems there is a little more space on one side of the reciever than the other, and I rigged up a temporary shim to fix it, but I'd really like to know WHY it's doing it.
Is there something defective with my stock, or is it all Rugers fault for having the action attach with only one freakin' screw?
All the comments and reviews I have found so far on line, everyone says it "drops in/fits perfectly.
What the problem is?
I also noticed a screw in the grip of the stock- what is this for?
Here are some pictures that hopefully will explain this better:

The shim I made up-
