Brass trading question

I will soon be in need of .308 brass.
I have a lot of .45acp brass.
What would be a reasonable amount to ask in trade? For example, would 1000 .45acp cases be reasonable to ask for 100 .308 cases?
I just don't want to waste time with an ad for something noone would interested in.
Is .45acp brass even worth trading?

Re: Brass trading question

I'd trade ya 100 pcs of 308 for 1000 45 in a heartbeat. I have a bunch of 1x Hornady brass that I'm not using. If you're serious, let me know.

Re: Brass trading question

I don't have a specific flavor of brass in mind, other than I would probably be better off with commercial. The thickness variations between commercial and military, plus needing to swage the primer pockets would make just using commercial simpler.
I will try to figure out how to sort out 100 pieces of brass without having to actually count it.
The brass I have is mostly Winchester, mostly once fired PD range pickups. Some of the brass I have been using are probably mixed in. I have 4 5-gallon buckets full of brass and I doubt I would ever go through that much .45acp in my lifetime. plus I can get more.

How many pieces of brass fit in a gallon size freezer bag?

Re: Brass trading question

1k of 45 brass runs about 50-60 bucks plus shipping. This is range sweeps with unknown cycles, they're dirty, and need to be cleaned, decapped, and sized.

100 of 308 brass for commercial once fired is about 22-25 bucks per hundred. Same condition.

I'd trade appropriately.

EDIT: 100 instead of 1k

Re: Brass trading question

It sounds like maybe 1,000 of .45acp for 200 of .308 would make a good trade.
I am really tied up on a road project right now. When I get a little time I will count some and bag them. I will offer them for trade to the people who responded here first.
The brass I picked up at my range is all once fired. They only shoot new ammo- no handloads. However I can't absolutely gurantee that every piece will be once fired since I did throw some of the brass I use in the same bucket. That should all be on top, but I won't promise it and so won't advertise it as such.
