I have a thing for these rifles. I've picked up several near new ones over the past few years for around $1K, and they have all been excellent to me.

I found a NIB A2 model about two years ago for a whopping $1,300 and scooped it up. Put a 3-15 Burris XTR II on it and Krylon'd the stock green as this is as close to an M40A3 that I'll get.

I finally started load development today with some IMR-4064 and 168gr Nosler CC that I have a boatload of (both).
There is definitely an accuracy node for this barrel as only a grain of powder less threw a wild string. It was so bad that the 5th shot for that load isn't in the photo.

44.0gr though gave me this. **My range is 160 yards** this is from my shop to a pond berm. I have to walk to my driveway to reach out past that.

There is definitely more in this gun with some experimentation with other powders. I have a ton of Varget and RE15 too.

Round total on this rifle is exactly 50 now.

Every one that I have seen is a shooter I think my last one liked 44.2 he of Varget and a 175 SMK

Yeah, I have a first gen SPR that went sub 1/2 MOA with 43.5gr Varget under a Nosler BT during load development and carried retarded accuracy out to 400. It is my go-to hunting rifle.

Thanks for the info guys. I just picked up an fn spr a1. I have almost a case of 168 fgmm to go through before load development. Been looking at using imr4064 and 168 eldm combo.

Shit, I lied....just saw my load data for my first gen SPR. It was 43.0gr Varget, not 43.5. The latter however seems to work well with many rifles shooting the SMK.

Finally got a chance to take out my Fn spr a1. Man this think is a tack driver.
I haven’t reloaded for it yet but it really likes 168 fgmm. Bottom one is a sighter, then a 3 shot group. Next need to chrono and do a 5 shot group.
