Been looking for a new safe and have pretty much settled on getting a "C" rated safe - meaning .5" body 1" door. This basically leaves Brown and Graffunder and maybe some small, custom builders I don't know about. Right now I'm looking at a Brown, commercial weapon vault. Two month build time for this safe. Just wondering if anyone out there has seen a Brown safe in person. Can't really seem to find any real reviews online, not a mass quantity safe co, so hard to find actual end users.

If you don't know about Brown you can check them out at the below link:

Nice!

The difficulty in finding reviews might have something to do with the weight. The specs you are looking at puts between 2000 to 3500 pounds onto a footprint of around 10 to 15 square feet. Even in a garage, a 3000 pound car is spread out over a print over 10 times that.

One thing's for sure - no one is going to be able to haul it off in the back of a van!

I was looking at one of their double door, 7248 or 7256. Weights are 5034 and 5940 respectively. I thought about buying two smaller safes, but it would be close to $12k for two and about $9k for one double door.

Re: Brown Safe - Commercial Weapon Vault

I have a Sportsman's Steel that weighs 1400lb empty and have had to put support posts under my floor. I took six of us to get it in the house. If you get one over 5000lb I hope you have a crane.

Re: Brown Safe - Commercial Weapon Vault

I'm assuming this is going on a concrete pad, if not you'll really mess up your framing without A LOT of support.

They look like nice safes, I'm jealous, post pics when you get it in and installed please.

Yep, concrete pad - no basements or crawl spaces around here. The safe I'm using now is about 1200lbs - I can move it around myself, but am anxious to see how they handle one that weighs six times more. I contacted the local safe installer and they said they have moved safes this large before, so hopefully it goes off without issue.

Re: Brown Safe - Commercial Weapon Vault

I have a brown safe. It is not one of the gun safes but one of the smaller entry level jewelry safes. I love mine one of the best quality true safes I have seen. I also know someone with one of the higher end jewelry safes and it is a work of art.

If I had the money for my gun safe to be a brown it certainly would be but I had more of a liberty budget at the time. Get it and you will be happy and as safe as a safe can get you.

Re: Brown Safe - Commercial Weapon Vault

I just ordered a Brown safe a C rated fire lined double door safe and its going to take 10 weeks as the time to build.. Do you have a Brown safe?

Re: Brown Safe - Commercial Weapon Vault

Finally had mine installed. I waited about a year before I bought it - no real reason why though. Very nice work.... I was told ten weeks when I ordered, but they were about four weeks behind, so a little over three months for this one.
