This is a beautiful 1969 Safari grade European Walnut rifle with less than a box of factory shells through it. I bought this from the original owner who had it carefully clean and stored in a temperature controlled safe since new. The stock has a few minor handling marks but no scratches that I can see and is otherwise in like new condition.
I have care fully inspected this rifle and can assure the buyer that this is a “no salt” rifle. Rifles during this era some stocks were cured with a salt drying process, which in turn destroys the bluing on the rifle.
Check online and you will see the obvious results of the rifles that had salt cured stocks.
One must check the screws and all the bluing to determine this. The screws on this rifle are original untouched factory slotted screws, and the wood finish original as well as the beautiful deep bluing.
I waited to find the perfect vintage scope for this fine rifle though Vintage Gun Scopes in Corvallis, MT. You can call James (owner) and talk to him as to the restoration of this gorgeous, age appropriate Redfield, Made in Denver USA traditional 4x crosshair scope. The front lens was replaced, new seals, glue, cleaned and purged prior to being put into one of their wooden presentation boxes.
A number of these were made by the then premier USA rifle scope manufacturer labeled “Browning” as a perfect match to this fine rifle.
I used the classic Talley high polish blue scope mounts and rings to mate the two into a very fine example of late 60’s traditional high end craftsmanship.
