Can anybody enlighten me as to what action the Browning X-Bolt Action is modelled after, or is it it's own model?
You see rem 700, tikka, etc
The reason I'm asking is I'd love an after market chassis stock for mine but no one offers aftermarket stocks that I can find for a Browning action other than McMillan which I'm not a fan of.
Any help would be much appreciated 👍

I shoot at the Pro Long Range, while my wife shoots at the Hells Canyon. They both shoot lights out and have a 6.5 PRC.
In addition to being lighter, the Hells Canyon's barrel is two inches shorter.

I have the long range pro and it's awesome and does shoot stupidly well. The factory stock is okay and I've modified it to take ARCA and do what I want from it, but I would love to fit it to a chassis system with a bit more adjustment. Looks like I need to pick a different action. Even a foundation stock to fit it would be awesome.

Browning A-Bolts have long been a “come as you are” type rifle.
I have an A-Bolt II and the only aftermarket stock I’ve ever seen in the last 30 years is McMillan.
Another thing to consider is that at least on the Stainless A-Bolt II’s, the barrels were loc-tited in and most ‘smiths wouldn’t replace the barrel for fear of galling the threads. Not sure if the X’s are this way.
I do see Timney has triggers for X-Bolts now.
Yeah, there’s some things I’d change on my old A-Bolt II, but it shoots like it has eyes and nothing I ever shot with it was aware of how not “pimped-out” it was.

MDT makes a chassis for the Browning International market, McMillan inlets for the X-Bolt as well. There was a MDT/Browning chassis on ebay a few weeks back. It was priced at $600+. I watched it and it must have been deleted, I cannot find it or the completed auction.

I have a Target Competition Lite in a McMillan
