So far I've pretty much only been loading Hornady ELD-Match 140gr bullets for my 6.5 Creedmoor with an occasional test load playing with SMK. The BC numbers look best for the ELD plus I can buy boxes of the exact same load off the shelf so I know what I'm shooting.
Last month loaded several batches of loads and noticed issues with those rounds and my 7.62 PMag for my RPR. Checked and those rounds were slightly longer than my normal length and were measuring 2.844 COAL. Switched to my 7.62 AC mags which are longer so no mag issues but discovered a new problem. Broken tips! I bought a new borescope and was trying it out before cleaning the RPR and made a discovery. Two broken tips mashed in the bolt chamber .

Last Sunday was shooting prone and discovered more red tips on my mat under the gun, found a total of four by the time I was done. Looks like the tips are breaking off going into battery. Magazine feed bold gun, 6.5 loaded at 2.833 COAL and tips breaking off? Anyone else run into this issue?

I've heard of tips breaking off in semi auto rifles because the feeding process is fairly violent. But bolt gun? Dang, slow down, Turbo. Just kidding. Could be a bad lot. Check the tips on the rest of your rounds. If they're loose or can twist, contact Hornady with the ammo lot # and they may be able to help.
