Budget 308 build

Decided to do my first bolt rifle build since I had some parts available. I had a 308 shelin barrel and the stock from my bergara HMR lying around. Bought the solus action and a Triggertech trigger. I had to do some shaving of the stock in two areas. One for the bolt release and one on the inside for clearance because of the trigger hanger.

Unfortunately the solus barrel nut is either messed up or they have a major design flaw that won't allow me to screw the nut down the barrel far enough to mount. Hopefully this new nut will work. If not, looks like I'm going to be delayed a little bit more.

Was the Shilen .308 barrel previously on the Bergara? Your post kind of implies that it was...

There are a lot of potential questions here... What face does the barrel for a HMR have compared to a Solus bolt? Are you sure they are actually the same tenon thread for a Solus vs HMR? IE a Solus takes a Savage small shank which is something like a 1.062x20 vs a Rem 700 (which I think the Bergara actions are) are a 1.062x16.

I am not sure it is a barrel nut problem here...

Sorry for the lack of info. No the barrel was not on the bergara. That was previously on a savage. The barrel threads in perfectly into the action.
Edit: just got the new barrel nut in from them and it goes on as it should.

The Aero barrel nut issue is widely known, just google it. That made them wrong. Other nuts should work from what I read.

I'd clean all the threads on the barrel and the action, and then put some TW25B on those threads before screwing the barrel into the action the final time.

Got the gauges in last week and got everything set up. The scope rings are too high, needing mediums but its what I had. Just needing the brake and I'm set.

Took the rifle out today for it maiden voyage and got it sighted in. Used my bulk 308 reloads with pulled 147 gr which gives ya about 1 moa accuracy. This is 11 rounds and didn't have any muzzle device attached yet. I liked the action! Would've liked to mess around more but it was pretty cold and windy making it not so enjoyable.
