Looking for a good budget scope for my dad's hunting rifle. Budget is less than 500 with rings. Its going on a 6.5 creed but will probably never be shot more than 300 yards.

I search Midways site fairly often sorting by percent discount looking for deals. These are decent hunting scopes, especially at 50% off. I have a few of the higher-powered ones and 1 of this model. I've bought them all on similar sales. Don't cheap out on the rings, you've got a lot of your budget left with this deal.

If you contact @Euro.Connor, he might even be able to get you within your budget on these items... It's worth the ask.

This one is on sale for $399.99 down from the original price of $729.99... Burris makes good scopes.

Toss it in a set of these, and call it a day... It only overshoots your budget by about $40, but it would be about the best/nicest hunting scope setup you could get in that price range.

This is a nice scope.

With a 6.5 CM, you should be good using MPBR to 275-300y so no need for grided reticle.

These are solid affordable rings.

All good suggestions so far! Ive been loaning him my scopes, t6xi, g2 razor etc and he doesn't like the busy reticles so probably something with a simply duplex style would be what he's after.

How would anyone compare the Vortex venom line in comparison to those mentioned already in this thread? I have 2 of them, no issues so far. I have the 5-25×56 and really enjoy it. Only used the 3-15x44 once so far on a seperate rifle.

I have THE scope he's looking for, with amazing glass... Unfortunately, the price range is over his budget...BUT...It would absolutely be worth the extra money. I have same setup on several of my hunting rifles. It would really allow him more versatility for the rifle, if he wants to use it for longer range shooting, and hunting, and the ability to dial the elevation is a big plus.

I know 6x on the low end seems like a lot, but it's honestly not.

Appreciate all the suggestions. Talked to gr8ful Doug last week and he pointed me towards the sightron s1. It was on sale so I figured I would give it a shot. Just got it in and super impressed with it. Eye box is a little tight but glass and field if view is great. Kind of reminds me of looking through a vortex razor lpvo. I think he's gonna be very happy with it.

Well now, those scopes sure do seem well made. I reckon this setup could give a Venom a run for its money.
