Budget rifle project

I've been collecting parts because I need to down size to a sub-custom stick for a while so here's what I got.

I bought the stock including M5 bottom metal and 5 round mag here on the hide for $350 shipped. And got the barreled action, also on the hide for $530 shipped.

I went to rdprecision.net where Randy has a "do-it-yourself" area and followed his directions and textured the stock.

Here are some pics during drying.

I'm going to throw a base coat of paint on it a little later. I don't know what I want to do paint wise yet. I've done traditional camo before and it turned out nice but I might want do do something different this time. Any ideas?

This looks like a cool pattern.

I like the vertical lines and my try to do something like this.

Any one know how to achieve this look?

Hey, Although I have never done it, you can always take a tree branch (evergreen, leaves, or even hay) and hold it to the gun. Just make sure you cover whatever you do not want painted. try it on some cardboard, maybe you will like it.

I did exactly what johnnycrackshot9 said and used tree leaves and stuff, really looks great. I used Aluma Hyde II paint from brownells. The smaller leaves on a single branch look great. Take your time and it will come out excellent. Good Luck!

Got bored yesterday and decide to try some techniques I've seen on here with krylon. Here's the end result.

The lighting makes the tan look white.

Both look great. I like the shadow effects on your 1st picks. Will hide it great while hunting, etc. Good Job
