Will be used for 50/100m groups off a bench, some "longer range" <300m and some prs type stuff.

Arken sh4/ep4 vs midas tac 5-25/6-24?
Is there any major differences between the 5-25 and 6-24 that would sway you either way?

First hand experience?
Any issues?

Hit me with the good, the bad and the ugly.

**I'm in Australia so our prices are basically double, arken is about 1200, midas is 1250-1600 and for comparison sake a viper pst 2 is about 1900
Cheers

I know your pain mate. It sucks being down here with the prices we have to deal with for scopes and rifles.

The power ranges are that close it wont matter. You wont notice the difference. I'd go for the reticle that suits you best and adjustments that feel the most solid and tactile.

Out of curiosity, can you not buy one from the US and have it shipped there? $1900 for a viper is nuts,
It mainly depends on the shop in the US you want to buy from if they will even ship to australia. And then theres the import duty, GST if we get charged that. Scopes under 1k AUD are usually ok. But over 1k AUD it can get complicated.

But it second hand on the PX? That will be under $1k for sure.

you can get a razor second hand For $1600 on the px pay to ship it and be out less than a viper off the shelf over there

Aud to usd exchange rates, import duties, absolute headaches regarding anything gun related.

Id get 80c to the dollar so a US razor will be 2k aud, plus import shit.

I should've moved to Texas 20 years ago haha

I have both been running the Midas Tac for about a year and recently got the Gen 2 Arken SH4 both are 6-24×50. The Midas glass has a slight edge in clarity, SH4 a little brighter. Weight Midas is lighter by quite a margin. Both have equally tactile turrets, massive and a little harder on the Arken. Reticle choice is a toss up for me. I can get used to both, wish they had 0.2 mil hashes though. The Arken zero stop and turret reset is definitely more user-friendly. I used to live in Oz and still have many F&F there so know the financial situation regarding this types of purchase. Personally if choosing one at this point strictly for the application described, provided you don't need illumination. I would stick with the Midas TAC but if you can swing it get the 5-25x50 with the APRS6 reticle for the 0.2 hash marks.

Well, with our open borders you can just walk across the border now with our Weekend at Bernies president. And we have sanctuary cities too lol.
