Build a rem 700 or buy a bergara b14 hmr

I have $1200 to play with for just the rifle, scope /base/mount are already acquired.

What would be the better route here,

Build up a rem 700 and put it in something like a krg bravo or just grab a bergara b14 hmr?

Whichever I do I'd like to go with 6.5 creedmoor since I already have a full reloading set up for it from an ar10.

If I go the bergara route, since it's set up similar to a Remington, is it possible to do remage barrel conversions to it? Or did they change it up just enough to not get sued by Remington?

Dont want to be screwed if I ever want to change the barrel on either.

Bergara a million times. $1200 might even get you to the HMR Pro which is a totally different league than the Remington.

I was in a similar situation, went with the Bergara. It already had everything that I would have done to a 700 done to it, and isn't a Remington.

I love my HMR. Ll of my Rem 700 accessories have worked for it perfectly (Nightforce 20 MOA rail, Triggertech Primary adjustable trigger). I would have grabbed a Pro had I known about it, but I really can't complain about the standard HMR. I'm a terrible shot, this is my first rifle one could consider to be 'long range,' mine is chambered in 6.5 CM, and with Hornady ELD-M, it consistently prints groups around .6-.7 inches at 100 yards. Haven't had a chance to take it out further yet though.

ended up getting the bergara HMR non pro.

trigger adjustment screw is stripped right out of the box

other than that it seems like a nice rifle. Havent shot it yet though.

Isn't as accurate. And I would like to use it fro PRS. My REM700 holds about a 1.25 MOA and I've read that the bergara can hold under 1 MOA.

That's pretty decent, how do you like your bergara?

For factory rifles, I think tikka and Sako are towards the top of he heap. Fit and finish on the bergara is OK. Bolt feels kind of cheap and the stock had something loose in it rattling around the day I brought it home. It seems to shoot though. It's not a Tikka, that's for sure... But it seems to want to shoot like one.

Have around 680 rounds through it and it has held up fine.

Gripes, throat is very long on mine, makes you seat bullets long but long rounds get stuck under feed ramp so you either remove some feed ramp metal or seat short.

6-48 scope screw holes, I have a heavy Bushnell XRSII on it and it has been rock solid but Bergara should of used #8 screws.

If you find a Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5mm Creedmoor for $1,200 let me know. I've scoured the web and all stores in reach and nada. Best I could find was $1,599, that was $600 more than my B-14 HMR in 6.5mm Creedmoor, and $837.15 more than my B-14 Timber in .300 Win Mag.

I checked with Bergara about rebarreling the B-14 HMR in 6.5mm Creedmoor and was told around $500. That's better than what it would cost me locally once I'd need it.

Bergara all the way. I have 2 Remington 700 (308 and 7mm) and Bergara fit amd finish is superior. The Remington’s shoot great tho with some serious load development.

I have 2 Remington 700 (7mm and 308) and just got a bergara b14 home in 6.5 creedmoor. Bergara is a better fit and finish. The gun itself is heavy too and just feels right. Shoots great. The remingtons shoot just as good tho. Must have been luck of the draw. Bergara has MOA guarantee.
I was thinking of building custom but realized that it would cost a ton and almost all of the custom guns that are for sale are at a substantial loss.
mind you I might have a different mindset if I we’re together into competing with it but for now the bergara out shoots me at long ranges.
The bergara is a sub MOA gun out of the box. Remingtons are with serious load work
