    Hello all

Im looking at building a 300 wsm in the near future (next 12 months or so) and im just curious about everyones opinon on what routes they would go down. Im considering buying a stock tikka t3x stainless varmint and then putting it in a krg bravo stock or maybe a manners t5a or something, or my other thought is getting a rem 700 action then getting a high quality long barrel (28") in a Krieger or Bartlein 5r and building a rifle that way. Main use of rifle will be long range target shooting and long range hunting, definitely wont be a stalk rifle

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

whichever way you go, make sure you have a good source of quality brass.

edit: guess I should explain. Quality brass under $3 a stick was unattainable for years. Peterson and ADG are both looking to make (or possibly making now) brass for 300WSM, which will it a more viable option to handloaders.

I've also considered building a 300wsm up with a faster twist for the new Sierra Matchkings because I have a plethora of short actions and not an overwhelming desire to buy a long.

With the new Bighorn Origin, Defiance Tenacity, and the Arc Nucleus being out and available for 1K and under, I'd do a hard pass on buying a 700 and starting a build with it. IMO, the Bighorn might be the best bang for your buck with the swappable bolt heads and the plethora of components available over the Tikka.

You could also pick up a Tikka T3 lite for a steal now also and save a few hundred over a T3x varmint thats going to be used as a donor.

I have a 300wsn, blueprinted rem 700, ptg dbm, alpha mag with a 24 inch LRI barrel with blended brake. The barreled action sits in a A5. I only have 175 rounds down the tube but its a shooter. I did some preliminary loads with the 200 grain eldx that showed a lot of promise. The gun is heavy 11 pounds, but I am looking at selling it to fund another project. If interested PM me.

As far as brass goes theres plenty of Norma brass down here atm, hopefully it stays that way.

The t3 lite as a donor is a good idea! Have seen a few advertisements here for $900 AUD

Thanks for all the info guys, very much appreciated
