Honestly, you're better off with a bolt gun for most competitions. If you really want an AR308 for that then build a bench rifle, 20-22" barrel from a good maker, etc etc. Fulton offers a fairly decent 22" heavy stainless 1:12 twist upper for 1049$.
Also, any barrel can be fluted, just takes money.
