Good evening every one,
I am looking for some advise about building an observation unit I have a SSwarovski LaserGuide range finder a Leupold 15-45 Spotting scope and Manfrotto 190XproB tripod.
Now I am looking for a way to have the LRF and scope attached to my tripod in a way that will allow me to have the collimated so I don’t have to start searching the target when I go from LRF to scope.
Any advice appreciated
Thanks
Gol

You can use this

Re: Building an observation center

Here are some photos of some of my equipment.
When you start to put all this stuff together and then add the NV and IR laser it can become a handful.
So this is one area where modularity really pays off.
I like the ModSpot rail 'cause you can use the MK 4 spotter with the PVS-22 or PVC-14 (flip rail over, 14 behind Leupold).
LaRue makes a rail also that could be used for attaching multiple pieces of equipment, but I don't think they sell it to civis.

That's some nifty gear Edwin, thanks for posting the pics! I'm also trying to put together an observation rig and you've given me some good ideas.

Did you get the ModSpot from US Tactical? Also, what is the make of the tripod system in the first two pics?

I assume the ModSpot will attach to any tripod with a 3/8" adapter?

Thanks!
David

Re: Building an observation center

It's a RayVin (just like the smaller one) and yes the ModSpot was from US Tactical and will fit any standard tripod thread. Black was out of stock, but they switched me to earth and shipped it out.
It really is a good rail, allows use of the PVS-14 as well.
Glad these setups gave you some good ideas, but I'm not sure how doable azeroing the rangfinder and spotter together, if Leupold had some way to put a simple RDS on the spotter it would be great.

Thank you sir! Did a quick search and found some info on it here: http://www.adorama.com/LDDCA.html I'm sure it's available other places as well.

Re: Building an observation center

2mm sheet metal folded twice to 90 degrees with picatinny rails an hole for Manfrotto qr plate very simple but makes life easier

Re: Building an observation center

Hi Anthony
Lowlight already offered that solution but I wanted a lighter and more rugged solution pluse my solution cost about $20 opposing to the over $100 cost of that unit.
Thank you
