For those of you that followed my thread on the venerable AWC G2A a while back (the one with the picture of Gale McMillin), here is an update of the work that Rich Cabral is doing at Short Rifle. The Bulldog, seen here, has been thoroughly tested in the last six months and the recommendations are to be incorporated into a new version called the Bullfrog. That unit will, get ready, have the ability to be ambidexterous. Say what? That is correct, both right and left hand capable due to a clever design change. FIne work already done in the trigger linkage gives true 2 stage and a fast safety on/off.

All T6 billet, the unit shown above is housing the SOCOM 16 and a standard (Armscorp) long barrel. Plans are to have their own receiver built for them, talks ongoing now with two top manufacturers and, again get ready, work in progress on chambering the 300 winmag.

What kind of moa you need in the base to get a zero with that? like 50 moa?

I would think that for a weapon zeroed at 100/200 meters there would be no issue. Unknown ranging variance would increase (simular to the AUG,l85A1 ranging/zeroing issues) and would ceratinly be a greater consideration. Cant would come into more play as well.

There are three top housings I have seen, one much lower.

There are two distinctly different variants. What you see above is the model provided for testing and that unit goes for about $1,000.00 and is vailable now without action.

The recommendations made over the last six months are to be incorporated into a new version (the ambi version, BULLFROG) and will be delivered with action in 2010. Those units will first be delivered on contract and then could potentially be delivered into the private sector. I hope to have pictures of the BULLFROG soon. That should really be interesting!

If I had the money, I'd be buying one of those right now! The reliability of the M14/M1A action is legendary. In a compact like the Bull Frog, that would be an excellent close quarters battle rifle!

On muzzle blast, like any SBR .308 one would either choose to use a can or Noveske or double up and go.

What is the weight of the stock?
How are they working the safety?
Is there going to be a forearm rail option?
Is there going to be an adjustable cheek piece?
What is the total length going to be with an 18" M14 Bush?

Weight of stock 1.4 pounds.
Safety is two position thumb switch.
That is a forearm rail underneath.
One adheres a special nomex pad to adjust or augment cheek weld.
Length is action plus 1.3"

Absurd? Like a fish on a bicycle...That old Gale McMillin, absurd.....finally, someone inaniloquent enough to say it.

There is very little known about Short Rifles and their bullpup stock for the M14 MBR, but I
would like to sample one and compare it to my MK14 SEI Mod 1 and other EBR stocked M14s.

Don't care for the green stock setup but the one in the black stock with short dot scope and suppressor is nice looking. Would have to do a series of tests with it to see if it was going to evolve into anything.


And yes, I said absurd.... deal with it.

The bulldog looks good, but I'm not a fan of the "whole pistol grip" trigger guard.

The BullFrog with the standard type of trigger guard looks (to me) to be a much safer concept.

SO, lets take this one step further.

Remember that there are actually two (2) models that Rich produces. The first, the Bulldog, is available now and one would follow to the link in the thread above. The second, the Bullfrog, will be produced incorporating the requirements as set forth in the field testing for the Navy Seals. That model we have yet to see and I am confident that as soon as pictures get released, you will see them here first.

One more thing, whereas we have shown an original AWC G2A and the Israeli M14 Bullpup, these are for reference only. This design actually has a long history and it is great to see Rich pick it up again as his work, especially along the new .300 reciever, should create quite a stir.

The trigger guards:

THE LARGE GUARD - That is the guard specified and produced for the L.A. Port Authority. They order the large trigger guard because they wear HAZ MAT Suits, the large guard allows trigger access with their gloves. Can it be had? Probably.

THE SMALL GUARD - That is what one would get as the standard item.

The thing i dont like is the scope is like 27 1/2 inches above the barrel.Couldnt they have desighned it lower?

RT51 was there ever any thought in doing one with the Ruger mini-14 action for the 223 nuts.Not foresure on the count of select fire mini-14's out there but it would be a good alternative stock.

Surgeon, the Bulldog is what you see, Bullfrog is lower. In other words, There is no issue.

Sierra, interesting that you should ask, the design work for a both the Ruger Mini14 and 30 is already finished and should be available at some time in late 2010.
