Just curious about the barn/house to the right of target?

Yep.some poor fucker driving past getting shot in the head is not a nice possibility....

One word,,,, BACKSTOP !

A .22lr can go for over 1/2 mile on its own....

Dude,, good video but you really got to be more careful. that was not good. Thats what the anti's always get their own AMMUNITION against shooters on !

Re: Bullet Trace

Is it just me, or are others missing this too. I was expecting to see a trace of the path of the bullet. All I see is a circular appearing shock wave when the shot is fired. I don't see any indication of the path of the bullet. What am I missing?

Thanks for the link, Green. I can see trace in this video on some shots, but not all. I guess it is a skill to learn what to look for, and pay attention while you are watching for it. I still have a hard time picking it up as it comes down on the target though. I guess I need to spend more time watching for it/practicing. Thanks.

+10000000000000000000

My thoughts exactly while i was watching it! I see a lot of semis pass and in comparision to if that was a fridge @ 800 yds then those semis had to be lets say the size of Hawaii at 8 miles. I call (cough) Bullshit.

Re: Bullet Trace

No way that road is 8 miles beyond the target. Doesn't even look to be a mile past the target.
Should definately have a bigger backstop considering what's behind the target area.....

Re: Bullet Trace

Telephoto lenses have the effect of making things in the background look as though they are on or near the same plane as the subject. Might be eight miles, just look a lot closerthrough the lens.

Re: Bullet Trace

i liked seeing the bullet at the end of the vid. back in Oct, I was spotting at a 1000m range and we got to see some WONDERFUL .308 bullets fly the length of the range. From muzzle to target with the sun setting at our back. It was great. They looked like big copper paint balls sailing across the alfalfa. We are going to try getting it on vid whenever we shoot again.

Re: Bullet Trace

I am shooting my DPMS LR-308 16" BBL with HSM 155grn factory ammunition on a 25" plate at 500yds. This was not a accuracy test by any means. Just a quick down ad dirty 13 rounds loaded in 3 mag's down range so you can see the trace of the bullet.

Hope this helps some.

Re: Bullet Trace

My biggest issue is not seeing trace, It's getting the scope set up so I can catch it. Are you going with a low magnification on the spotting scope? where are you focusing the scope to? I've heard 2/3rds of the way downrange from some folks, and others say get the target crystal clear. At distance, I will some times loose the trace/ bullet above the head of an Iron madien or Steel Plate. What Can be done to remedy this? Thanks for any help you can give.
