Does anyone have one of these on their AR type rifle? Do you like it? How's the parallax error on it at distance? Are their any other prism 1X scopes that you have personally tried that you like better? I'd like to be able to hold the "dot" size down to 2 - 3 MOA.

Genuine question: why would someone pick a limited eye relief 1X prism scope over an unlimited eye relief reflex or holographic sight?

I can only think of two reasons: astigmatism and having a reticle without power. Is that it?

Since it's just 1x, I'm seeing specs that say 2 - 7 inches, and other specs that say 2.7 inches. I'm just going to have to get my hands on one of these and see for myself. And, I suppose that another eye related medical issue you could add to that list is retina surgery. This is for my wife's gun, and since she had her surgery, she no longer has to wear glasses, but she has trouble focusing using SOME tactical scopes with both eyes open.

I had one and didnt like it. The 4 moa dot covered too much of the target and the BDC was unusable for me. Switched to a Spitfire and never looked back.

Thanks for the heads up. The Spitfire was another one I was considering. I know I didn't want the 6 moa dot, and I was concerned that the 4.4 moa dot on the Burris was still a bit big. As far as the BDC goes, it might depend upon the gun. I have a brother that lives out of town who put one of these on an AR10 build, and he said that it's not precision accuracy by any means, but the subtensions are such that he can easily stay in the center area on a 16" steel plate at 500 yds. I'm definitely going to look harder at the Spitfire though.

For my two cents, this is a really good low price (CQB) optic. Look, it is for an AR-15 Rifle in Close Quarter Combat situations. Too many times folks are looking for a perfect sub $300 optic that does it all. Frankly, there is no weapon system that truly does it all. Same goes for the optic.

The description from Burris calls this a CQB optic in the description, sub-100 yards! I have one on the upper of my Windham AR-15 .223. It is a good optic for sub-100 and reliable also using the etched prism or when lighted. I don't have it on my .300 Blackout upper, I have a Leupold 3-9x44 on it.

If you want to spend upwards of $2200, then get a used Leupold Mark VI with an integral mount. I have one, but it is on my 1000 yard, 6.5 Creedmoor; Bergara B-14. I have spent a lifetime in Marine Corps and Law Enforcement. There is no one size fits all when it comes to weaponry. Truthfully, if you can shoot at all, flip up optics on an AR are the way to go for defense and fast target acquisition in a defensive posture, which is what CQB is.

I want to meet the guy who can get off five .223 rounds in a 20 inch barreled AR in 15 seconds, sub 2 moa, at 100 yards, regardless of the optic. Most can't do it with a bolt rifle.

The thing that Burris did was actually tactically sound given the Peter Principle. Battery dies at the worst possible moment, etched reticle, problem solved.
