So I have a Burris XTR III 5.5-30x56with the scr mil reticle, and I’m thinking about replacing it with the SCR mil 2 (Christmas tree) and selling the scope I have now.

I shot the Nightforce ELR challenge in Wyoming last weekend and feel a graduated tree reticle would have been useful past 1500 yds to quickly correct misses before the wind switched.

I have the Nightforce mil xt reticle and like it.

Fwiw I’m shooting a 6.5 prc, 26” barrel, Macmillan stock. Only shoot in the daytime, and really have it primarily for the Nightforce competition 800-2000 in Wy, though I would like to get to a few more competition if time permits.

What has been your experience? Also, any other scope you’d recommend? I’m very happy with the xtr iii compared and feel it compares very well against the vortex razor, and Nightforces. Being built in America is a plus for the Burris as well.

I posted this in the competition forum as well, but figured I’d get more responses here.

Thanks!

I had the 3-18x50mm model with the SCR2 and really liked it. I thought Burris’s tree reticle was very useful and it worked very well for my eyes. The only reason I sold was the lack of illumination, but i was not using it for competitions.

I have one with the scr2 on my b14r. Love the scope and the reticle. The lower end of the magnification range is a little disappointing just with how fine the reticle is, that’s my only complaint so far. Would like it a bit thicker (that’s what she said). I love the zero stop. But you know all this you have one. I bought from a dealer on here Spartan Precision Arms very good deal.

I initially went with the scr reticle because Burris recommended it for hunting, then another 6.5 prc sprung up that’s much lighter so I’ll hunt with it.

They are awesome to work with, bought my last Nightforce from them. I’ll absolutely reach out.

This initial offering of the SCR2 has been designed as a competition reticle. I dont think it was intended to look great at 7x.

I ran it on 10x and 12x without issue this past weekend at the Koenig-Ruger PRS match in Grand Junction Colorado. Targets were SUPER hard to see in the rocky terrain so I went for big FOV. I dont think I went above 16x all weekend. At those mag ranges, it works great. Dial in a little more horsepower for ELR stuff and your golden.

The fine reticle is money in a competitive setting. Everything in .2's and a thin reticle that doesn't obscure backdrop or splash.

Just had mine out today side by side with my Tangent, really love the 5.5-30’s value. Also really like the SCR2 reticle in this scope. I’ve gotten some through the scope pics of the reticle at various magnifications, if you think that might help I’ll process and post here.

I appreciate it, but I think I’ve already made up my mind to pick up a scr2. I’m beyond impressed with the Burris xtrIII and think there will be enough similarity’s that I can switch from that to the mil xt reticle (NF) and be good.
I sent Spartan arms a message to get pricing. Thanks!
