Rifle Scopes Burris XTR Quality?

I'm looking to get a scope for a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in a LTR stock with Seekins rings and bases. I'm able to get a new Burris XTR 3.5-12X50 with the Mil-dot reticle for $380 but want to know if I should go ahead and get it or just wait and get a higher end scope. I would rather not spend more than $800 at the time. I would also be able to get a new Leupold MK 4 LR/T 3-10X50 with the same reticle for around $700. Which of the two would be better? Or is there something else I should be looking at?

Does no one know anything about Burris glass quality or durability of the actual scope? I would like to use this scope to fire out to 1000. Tell me what you think. Burris, Leupold, or something else?
