Anyone that actually OWNS or has FIRED an ACR, please let us know what you think - shooting impressions, accuracy, wear, reliability, ease of use, recoil impulse, etc.

Not starting a thread about prices, parts availability, appearance, dislike for Bushmaster, barrel twist rates, or general disgust for time frames and features!

I've handled one in a gunshop, but that only tells one so much.

Just interested in feedback from those who have actually fired or own an ACR.

Thanks!

Re: Bushmaster ACR owners/shooters

I only got to put about 20 rounds through one once but the recoil impulse seemed sharper than your typical AR. That said it was strait back with almost no muzzle climb at all. Don't really like the feel of the fixed stock version

Re: Bushmaster ACR owners/shooters

I've owned the basic model since April and put about 400rds through it. It is heavy but has enough recoil that the ACOG still thumps me in the forehead like it did on my AR. It will hold MOA and is accurate for what it is. It's simple to disassemble and clean but I have yet to clean mine. I still need to remove a small ridge behind the muzzle threads so I can screw a can on and try it out suppressed. I read that once you remove the barrel you lose your zero but found that to be untrue(at least on mine). POI shift after the barrel was removed and re-installed was about 1/2 inch. Fair enough. It has been reliable but I haven't screwed the can on and put 500rds of Wolf through it like I want to... I like the ergonomics and controls but wish I could get a BADASS selector switch for it. I also like the fact that the charging handle doesn't reciprocate. Once I can get my hands on the rail and folding stock off of the Enhanced model, and maybe a 10.5 bbl I'll be finished with it. Btw, I still shoot my ARs, the ACR is no cure for BRD....

Sounds pretty much like a SIG 556: front-heavy, reliable, and accurate enough. No AR-15 killer.

Re: Bushmaster ACR owners/shooters

This ACR/SCAR/SIG thing has me all messed up. Would like a plastic AR substitute of some type. Accuracy is important so is compact. No clear winner for me yet.

I have one and really like it, it’s number 00005x.. I don't like what I paid for it thou, but that was totally my fault.. I had it to have it when it was new.. Live and learn..

Here’s a thread I did on it with tons of pics and a 500 rd range (follow-up) report to go along with it.

Here’s what she looks like now after 2000 rds.. (this pic is 5 min old)

I’m actually just writing up a thread on her now.. I broke her.. I’m kind of bummed about it, give me few to get all the pics together and post it up..

What questions do you have?? I'll be more than happy to help answer them..

The first and foremost is Yes the gun is worth IMO the $2100 it's going for (hands down) again IMO..
I and my 14 yr old son really enjoy shooting it.. Light recoil, no (twang!!!) in your ears anymore like the AR’s, yes you can shoot it with out the rear stock. I can completely field strip it with a bullet, the barrel comes off and on without any issues (at least on my rifle) and it’s really accurate.

The things I don't like about it..
1. It’s front heavy.. Everyone who shoots it tells me the same things.. Dam.. that shoots nice, but it’s a little front heavy.

That’s it.. That’s really my only complaint, well that and I still cant get another barrel conversion for it yet.. But that will come in time, at least that’s what I keep telling myself.. Hahaa..

Re: Bushmaster ACR owners/shooters

I've had my eyes on one as well but haven't been able to lay my hands on one yet! I've always loved the concept but once the price was made public, well we all know how that went.

Crossing my fingers that the price drops and that any kinks (however minor) are worked out.
