Re: Bushmaster stock question??? I want a new stock

there is a carbine and rifle spring and buffer. Usally if you buy a new stock it comes with spring and buffer. It's just a simple change out. The spring your talking about ..... is it inside the threaded part of the lower where the buffer tube goes ( buffer retainer) or the safty detent?

Re: Bushmaster stock question??? I want a new stock

The Ace FX Stock uses the A2 buffer tube that you already have installed on your lower. Unscrew the buttstock screw, slide the A2 stock off the end and install the Ace FX on your existing buffer tibe.

The MOE stock will require you to remove the stock assembly, including the A2 buffer tube, and for you to install a carbine length buffer tube, receiver extension nut, carbine-length action spring, and a carbine buffer.

As for the spring, I am still not sure which one you are talking about. Are talking about the buffer retainer spring that goes beneath the buffer retainer pin inside the lower receiver just in front of where the buffer tube threads into the lower? OR...are you talking about the rear take-down detent spring that slides into the rear of the receiver and is held in place by the A2 stock?

Re: Bushmaster stock question??? I want a new stock

That would be the takedown detent spring. Did you lose the detent, also? I keep spares of both on hand, personally, for those '<span style="font-style: italic">Oops</span>!' moments.

A neat trick is to buy a 4-40 tap and setscrew, and tap that hole. Trim your spring by 1/8" and install the detent and spring. Insert the screw, and you never have to worry about it again! Some lowers now come tapped from the factory.
