Hey guys, thinking about one of these for a 223, how do these fair as far as tracking, glass quality and FOV? Im also considering a USO B17, any info on these two would be appteciated.... A list of cons for both would be helpful as well...

I got mine for 806$ so it was hard to complain about. The glass quality is far beyond its price. FOV seems fair and the eyebox is a little tight at max mag like most of bushnells scopes. It's not detrimental like a mark 6 but it is noticeable. The edge to edge clarity is superior to the old HDMR/ERS/XRS. Though it does exhibit some CA on a bright day looking at white targets.

Comparing it side to side to my SN-3 it holds its own. Better than any other optic I've owned excluding my Gen II razor.

I havent tested tracking but Bushnells reputation for their high end stuff has been spectacular, so I'd assume it tracks.

That's good to hear, was that a new or used price? Not crazy about the tight eye box though, how thick does the reticle get at max mag?

That was new during the 25% off bushnell rebate. Optics planet offered me a deal that brought it down to 1076$ then i got the 25% rebate.

Tight eye box is not that tight, like i said noticeable but nothing like the leupold mark 6 which is unusable IMHO. Reticle thickness is decent, not thin but not quite as thick as the G2DMR or my GAP milling reticle at 17x.

The B-17 is going to be a better scope, of course it should be at nearly double the LRHS' price. I had also heard that USO was designing a new hunting reticle. though i'm not sure if that ever came to fruition.

I'm interested in the MGR reticle in the USO... The thing is I can get a AMG for what I'd pay for the B17.. I hate scope decisions..

If you're looking in that tier of high quality glass the LRHS will likely leave you wanting. I'd go for the AMG personally. The reticle can be used in either hunting for competition and the scope is sub 30oz.

I had the LRTSi 4.5-18x with the G3 reticle. Great glass as others had said, compared very favorably to scopes costing far more. The reticle got a little thick on max power. I swapped it out for an Athlon Cronus BTR and am very happy with it. I'm staying put with the Cronus on my JP 223 rifle....most accurate gas gun I've ever fired.

Yeah, I've never owned any of the higher end Bushnells but I just feel like if I get one I'm gonna have regrets... I'm sure they are a great budget optic though.. I'm gonna keep watching the PX and see what turns up in there...

Sounds like a plan. Like i said if your budget allows a 2500$ optic Bushnell currently doesn't have a product out that really addresses that kind of glass. They have one coming..I.E. the XRS II. But it's not due til November i think? Retail is estimated to be 2199$.

There's always a good deal coming up in the PX here.

I've seen some really good deals in the PX, I've seen some 4-16 ATACRS F1 go for 1750, if I see another one of them I'm snatching it up.. I love mine.. Also seen a 315M TT for 2400, another great deal... I'll be watching...

I don't know about the B-17 but I had a USO 3.8-22 some years ago that was extremely impressive, but what I didn't like about it was its size, seems like all USO's scopes are baseball bats but glass and reticles are superb from my experience. That being said I have an LRTS and every time I use it I am impressed with the glass, turrets and overall feel. Will has some great comments above and I would second everything he's said, outside of some minor CA this scope impresses way beyond its price. Here it is on my AR-65CM

I can only compare my LRHS to the Burris XTRII that I had before it. It is very clear and a great dual prupose scope for hunting/PRS. I shoot it a lot on 18x on anything over 600+ yards at PRS matches. Went out to 1012 and 1022 yards on a couple of stages Sunday and could see the splash when I made hits. I am looking at the LRTSi for my next purchase as the reticle seems a bit finer to me.

I've been thinking about an LRTSi for my AR-15, the price point and specs seem right. The only other contender in the price range for me is the NF SHV F1, but the Bushnell has a better reticle and 10 mil turrets.
