Looking to get a "semi-budget" long range scope. The scope would mostly used for shooting paper and steel. Both are roughly the same price. You can find the DMR ii's for around $900-$1000, even less depending on the deals and with military discount with Vortex the PST would run me around $750-800. I have not handled or looked though either one.

Which one would you guys recommend? Or is there a scope that I am not considering that might be worthy?

    Thank you

I just bought the PST 5x25 FFP w/ the EBR-7c ret.. Only have 1 range session behind it. At this time, I'm happy with it. The ret. is not too "busy" and the glass is 3x-4x's better than my last scope (Nikon M-223, 4x16x42 w/ 600 BDC ret.). Return to zero was spot on, turrets are nice and crisp, Illum. works as advertised. As I mentioned in another thread I started, the only thing that bothers me a little, is how long this one is, compared to the Nikon (16" compared to 14"). I wanted a more compact scope, but I wasn't willing to un-ass the cash for it. I plan on using it on a AR in 5.56/.223 for club 600yd. paper punching. I do have it mounted in a Seekins 20moa mount and after my zero, I have 59.25 moa left for dial-ups. Good luck with your choice, Mac(y)

Have both, prefer the Bushnell. Subjective preference. The viper feels like a toy. It does have better turrets. My PST Gen 2 was $$800 with discount. Fair to slightly over priced. The Athlon BTR is far better to me and cost less vs the PST Gen 2. First DMR2 and HDMR2 were over a grand. I bought more. Hope this helps

Between those two, in my opinion there's no comparison. I believe they are both in different classes of optics, I would get the DMRii all day for the minimal price difference. Not to say either is a bad scope, but I think the Bushnell is that next step up for glass as well as overall quality. I currently run multiple elite tacticals and they have all been great scopes for me. I had a PST gen ii at one point, and wasn't impressed with it in comparison...

I completely agree with this. I have had two PST 2s. Both had to go back for repairs and eventually were sold. I spend altogether too much money on scopes. I think the Bushnell Elite Tactical line offers superb value. Currently, my HDMR 2 is sitting in my safe, but I think it’s a phenomenal optic for the money.
