Rifle Scopes Bushnell Dmr pro vs. Nx8

Are your Schmidt's and ZCO's not working out ;) Seriously, not sure why no one has responded. I've only had experience with the DMR II (but not the Pro) and the NX8 2.5-20x50. The DMR series does have a narrow FOV which is its biggest drawback. The NX8 has impressive FOV but suffers with some edge distortion but has excellent center sharpness (and a better reticle selection IMO). The biggest drawback with the NX8 2.5-20 is the finicky eyebox, parallax and DOF - if those are not a big deal for the intended shooting then the NX8 is a pretty impressive package, but if they are a big deal I might give the nod to the DMR.

The Pro is an improved optic vs. a straight up DMRII, from my understanding. Have original DMR and ERS to compare, and IQ is far better on Pro, and not being offered with an illuminated reticle, center crosshair is slightly thinner, a plus for me. All I can offer on the Bushnell side, as do not have NF to compare.

My LRTS optics were better than NXS glass...so I'd feel pretty confident that the DMRII PRO would even be better than the LRTS line...

Well the pro..ive heard plenty long range shooters swear on it.and i think some k2m even use them?

I've personally have not been impressed with NF glass for the money they charge...but that is me.

Second thing I did not like about NF...is I kept messing with the parallax knobs way too much...it was way sensitive but each of us are different in the eye department.

Yeah the NX8 is better than the NXS...but that is why I said...the DMRII PRO glass...with the addition of ED...should be better than the LRTS and if so, should easily be on par with the NX8...however you will probably have a NF loyalist disapprove that statement....

Not a bad plan at all, maybe you should be a ZCO dealer in Hawaii ;) Yes, it seems the consensus so far is that the 4-32x50 is more forgiving than the 2.5-20. Unfortunately I have no experience with the 4-32 as it is a range that doesn't really excite me, but maybe I should check it out... or maybe you should buy one and then do a mini review of what you think (that way I don't have to buy one just to find out :D)

I have two DMR Pros and 1 NX8 4-32
If you can get the pro for $1000 or less then the pro. If you’re looking at retail on both the NX8 is a better scope in every way.

the glass in the DMR Pro is impressive compared to the regular DMR2 and my old ERS. No CA at all. Resolution is excellent and I like the G3 reticle. Locking windage. The mag ring is stiff and parallax only goes to 50y.

NX8 the mag ring is butter, turrets are much better, illumination is great. Reticle options are better. Comes with tenabraex caps. Capped windage. I wish it had a fast focus eye piece.

Nx8 is bit lighter too.good for hunting..and also use it for vudoo22?
Im pretty sure they both track really well?

What about parallex vs. Dmr pro?
Which more finicky

I'm afraid I havent really played with the DMR Pro. Just the DMR II.

As noted by multiple users, the NX8 does have a pretty tight eyebox. You really have to get your rifle set up well to help alleviate that. And parallax with the shallow DOF means you are constantly fiddlin' with the knob.

I think folks who buy this optic strictly for hunting seem to be more forgiving of it as you're not transitioning through multiple targets. It seems to be the target shooters who really remark on its issues.

sorry to jump on this thread, but since some members here discuss the quality of the DMR pro glass I would like to add a question:
How does the DMR II Pro compare to the XRS II ?

I dont own xrs2 but from ive heard and read, they both uses the same glass..
That is correct, they both use what Bushnell is calling "ED Prime" whatever that means, but many are very happy with the quality. I thought the DMR II was a very decent upgrade from the DMR so if the DMR II Pro has even better glass that would be impressive, only reason I haven't grabbed one is no illumination and limited FOV, not sure why they won't illuminate it but if illumination is not a big deal than even better especially with the prices of late.

PS - Bjay, just bought a ZCO ZC420, I'll take that any day over the Bushnell... but then again I can buy three Bushy's for the price of the ZCO :p

Thanks that some valuable information. I like my XRS II and was considering an DMR pro or Burris XTR II for another rifle. Would prefer another XRS but the Budget does not allow that right now.
