Rifle Scopes Bushnell Elite 1500 Discontinued

I realize this may be old news, but I have yet to find a reason as to why Bushnell discontinued the 1500 and made the lesser 1200 the successor...anyone know why they did this?

Seems to me a successor should be one that is bigger/better than the previous model. I have the 1500 and it has worked very well for me, never played with the 1200.

Bushnell told me that it was because the 1500 was assigned an NSN and would be a military supply items. So they replaced it with the Legend 1200.

I don't know if I totally believe that. Many items sold to civilians have NSN's and unless they were going to step up the laser to non-eye safe levels then it's not a big deal to keep selling. Plus if it was a mil adopted item, they would still be cranking them out.

The Legend 1200 is hardly a "replacement". It does not have the ranging capabilities of the 1500. I have one sitting here on my desk getting ready to go back to Bushnell.

I too am not sure that I believe their story...I really like the 1500 and think I will hang on to it. I think Bushnell made a mistake with discontinuing the 1500-- it received the most reviews. I rarely ever see anyone rating the 1000 or 1200, yet always see reviews on the 1500.

Hopefully, they will come out with something to replace the 1500 but yet surpass it rather than to take a step down.

I don't know the whole story but I have one with the NSN number on it that was sold as a military product.

Yup, makes no sense at all (I was wondering why they no longer have it on their website). The 1500 is a very good unit. I recently tested it against several others including my Swaros and I still like it best for <700 yards.

The 1200 is hardly a replacement. I have a $340 gift card from returning the Nikon I got for xmas and have been considering selling my 1500 to help fund the Lieca CRF I want but I don't know if I can. The 1500 just works great.

Too bad the 1200 isn't a true, smaller replacement.

Im not letting go of my 1500 ARC! That was the best $300 I ever spent.

Just a guess, my 1500 elite worked gr8 for a season, but by the next year wouldn't range 300 yards. I sent it back and eventually they sent me a new one. My guess is they're having trouble with it. Too bad, because I agree, it ranges as well as Swaro's and Lieca's .... now if this one goes toast next year, I'll pretty much know.

I would say that out to it's max usable range it works better than the Swaros.

As I said in my other thread the Swaro is slower, and at longer ranges it's harder to hold on target for the required time to get a read than the 1500.
