Bushnell Elite Spotting Scope

Using for viewing animals, range time and possibly digiscoping. Wondering how it compares to mid to high end glass from other vendors. I realize it won't be the same as alpha glass (Swaro/Zeiss/Leica).

I looked through @RobertB ’s at a match recently and I think the image quality was awesome. Considering you’re looking at watching critters and digiscoping, would you want a spotter with a reticle?

It's a pretty cool spotter, glass is great, ED Prime, EXO Barrier, made in Japan by LOW, and it's quite compact for what it is. I personally like how it goes all the way down to 8x, and the Throw Hammer on the new version is a welcome change. Keep in mind there's two reticle choice, and no 'no reticle' choice. However, with the reticle being on the bottom portion of the image, as you zoom in it starts to sort of go out of frame so as not to block too much of the view.

If you happen to be military/LE/FR the pricing on it there is very attractive.

I use this spotter for most PRS matches. Sometimes I'll use the Forge 15X binos which are also very good.

I love how compact and tough it is. When packing it I can put the glass covers over it and throw it in a pack as it's built super tough. I can find targets super fast with the straight design and throw lever that can use the 8x (which is SUPER HANDY) to find things and instantly throw it to 30x-40x to get better detail or to mill how wide targets are for wind error calcs. I will get right behind a shooter and put the center column center of target and can watch trace and give a correction to the tenth with the reticle. Comes in handy. I've been using one for years and use it for PRS and the last 3 King of 2 Mile matches with great results. When we won in 18 this is the spotter we used.

The glass is clear enough for most applications. The design overall is pretty good with plenty of room to grow with pic rail attachment options.

Glad to see they added the PTL on the magnification ring.

It packs well in an Eberlestock side pouch.

In my experience with it keep the accessory screws covered in RIG or else they tend to rust.

It's going to be about the same as other 400$ spotters. It'll be better than a NC Star, and suck compared to an Athlon Chronus.

I've looked through these. The glass is about on par with the Nikon Spotter XL that was set-up next to it. They both sucked.

For that price, I'd suggest looking at used spotters. Buy used and you can get something with quality glass for the same money.

This is the kind of deal to look for.

Bushnell have been dangling the new LMSS for the last 2 shot shows... Because it took so long, I ended up going back to Vortex Razor 27-60 (which is very different) with the 22x MRAD eyepiece, which is annoying being a fixed zoom.

I wish they'd come out with it, the 8-40 range is a big gap in the market.

Also have the Excursion FFP bushnell spotter, it's a nice unit for the price, but it's still limited in terms of glass / clarity. For the price, hard to beat, with a reticle.

The LMSS II has been out for a while. It's available in with 2 reticle options.

Please please please make the rails for sale. There are a ton of us with the First gen and no ability to mount anything.

These got blown out on liquidation earlier this year. I picked up 2 for $400 each. Don't want to spent $700 each for Badger rail system.

Buddy has one and he'll hook me up with it for a pretty good price. Was trying to see how good it was since I can't compare it to anything in my area.
They punch better than anything at a similar price. Very good glass for the money and built like a brick shithouse.

They were designed for a contract with SOCOM if I recall. I know a decent number ended up on ODA's but no idea how many. They replaced alot of the older MK4 spotters.

I got 2 for $400/each earlier this year. If you can get it for around $500, its a no brainer. The $1500 price they use to ask was crazy.
