I'm asking for those who have purchased this spotter to please reply to this thread. I am speaking with Bushnell about the defects and would like to know how many people have received a defective spotter and where they bought it from. I am trying to determine if this was a bad batch of spotters or if there is a chronic problem with the way these are manufactured. Thanks in advance for those who respond.

For those of you that have not seen the problems noted, it is mentioned in the below thread. Page 6 & 7..

What Sean is attempting here is to get feedback from those only with problems. Hopefully, with this compiled list, we can get to the correct people at Bushnell. With the call I made to Bushnell, I have not been too impressed with their CS.

For those of you that have checked your spotters, check again. The "black specs" are difficult to see against a background of trees, etc. They are also difficult to see at low power. However, when you crank up the power to 45x against a blue sky, they're very apparent.

Thanks for starting this thread Sean..

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

Mine came drenched in water inside and also had some black specs. I could not believe how wet the inside was. In addition, the objective lens barrel was very loose. I was very disappointed in the quality. I received this unit from Liberty Optics. If I remember correctly the LO batch had a 1:5 ratio of bad to good. Of course Scott will make it correct with either a refund or a replacement. I am on the fence in which way to go though.

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

Mine came with those black specs. Scott at Liberty took care of me. So much for Bushnells considering it was a new product.

I was hoping for an inexpensive spotter. Oh well, I'll use my more expensive offerings.

I'm curious how long term use will be on these coating of the lenses out in the field as well.

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

I just found out mine was speckled at 45x. I thought I lucked out for once, but no luck.

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

Folks,

We are the only dealer to publish/share the defective spotters we sold. It may or may not be "just ours" that are having issues.

If you really want a replacment I will work to make that happen. However, I have call tags arriving soon and we will refund the remaining customers (I have 6 spotters here, so that makes 4 outstanding) if you return yours. Or apply the cost as a store credit. Whatever makes you happy.

For those who received the spotter as a deal with the Premier Heritage, if you return your defective spotter, I'll send you a check for $350.

Scott

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

I got in 10 and just got the first report of any problem. Black specs at high magnification. Since I have not seen any with problems I can't say what may be causing them. It sounds like several different issues. I've had very high end scopes with black specs on the reticals and have found that with a few good bangs or just using, it goes away. I've also had some fuzzy black spots that would not go away and needed to be repaired.

Bushnell has military contracts and is selling a boat load of merchandise these days. This really suprises me that they let these through quality control.

so 1 out of 10 defective for my batch. Still that is a unaceptable rate.

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

Update: I received a return shipping label for my spotter from Bushnell today. To those that have bad spotters, if you push, Bushnell will pay for the return shipping of your spotter. The true test will be how long it will take to get a replacement to me and what condition will it be in when I receive it? I will keep everyone posted.

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

I got mine from Huntler. Black spec are very visable at higher mag. I spoke to Bushnell and they didn't offer to pay shipping. I'll call tomorrow and twist them a little and see if they'll pay for the return.

Other than that, I absolutly love it for matches !!!

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

Had water spots in my bushnell ordered from Liberty optics. Not returning because its clearer than my old spotter which was a bushnell sentry i believe

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

I got my spotter from LO. Black boogers at x15. CS seems less than interested in knowing that they sent defective merchandise. Stone walled me with the $10 service repair fee (not to mention 4-6 week turn around on repairs/ replacement. fubar!!! perhaps the powers that be could go to bat for us Hiders because it's like talking to a wall as far as bushnells CS is concerned

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

I got a card saying they put my spotter in the system 9-1. When I asked the lady if this was a wide spread problem she said "your's is the 1st I've heard of." The card says 3-4 week turn around. I REALLY could have used it yesterday at Rayners shooting to 900 yds.

Bushnell now has a rep on hide ...... Bushnell. He contacted me through a pm this morning. It appears that a red flag is now up at Bushnell about these spotters and maybe something will get done to get the problems corrected. Lets give them a chance as they are making an effort by jumping into the ring here on the hide.

My card says 3-4 weeks for repair. When I put the # in the site it only says "Received-Hold for inspection". I know it's only been 2 weeks but, they already got their $ on the original sale and they apparently have POOR QC there at Bushnell to let this many get out the door.

I also see that they want $10 for return shipping. Once again, they already have their $ for a product that they let leave the factory. Why should I have to pay extra money to ship THEIR SCREW UP???

I think I'll make a phone call tomorrow and get an actual time frame. As I see it, they should be shipping everyone a new spotter that has actually PASSED a lengthy QC process.

Re: Bushnell FFP Spotter Defect Roll Call

Bushnell is really blowing a good thing. There handling of this and the treatment of the customers has been poor at best. As a small business owner myself, I would never treat my customers this way. Once you spent money with me you become my priority. Word travels fast these days.
