Same reason you see it with other new products, not just optics - people buy it, finger-bang it for 5 minutes, then decide to sell when they get distracted by the next shiny thing that comes along.
The Burris XTR 3 clearance really threw a monkey wrench in most sub $2,000 optic sales/resales.

That was my exact treatment of it lol. It’s a good optic and tracks spot on, like every other Bushnell I’ve had

Only guessing but prolly gonna be a later release like before but damn, really?
The sales numbers for illuminated vs non-illuminated were.... well, lopsided would be putting it kindly.
There are a lot of people unloading the new Gen 3 6-36 Razors as well, probably for the same reasons...

Beside the turrets, not sure why are people unloading the 6-36 except to go ZCO or TT
Hard to say. I like the new offerings from Bushnell but for me the weight of the Razors keeps me at arms length. In either case, for me 36x is too much mag with too many trade offs such as eyebox and brightness. I do most of my shooting, even at 1000 yds+ at about 18-20x. But hey, that's just me.

I'm the same on typical mag range, but I love the XRS3. It looks great at the top end (especially compared to the XRS2), but it's absolutely fantastic in that 18-22x range.
This. I have an unhealthy love for the old LRHS and the XRS3 looks significantly better than ole faithful at 18x
I get that. I really like the DMR's. But you can get solid 18x performance out of most any 5-25. Why the need for 36x? But again, I'm kinda old school and might be the only guy who doesn't like reticles with floating dots....

Most people won’t but it’s nice to have and for the power range, the scope isn’t that big or heavy. It’s essentially the same size/weight as most of the 34mm LOW scopes (Cronus, Stryker, tract, trij etc) but has an additional 6-7x
Every now and then that extra mag comes in handy.
I am one of those that sold an Xrs3 in a week, I sold it to fund a 6-36 razor when I looked at them side by side it was worth the upgrade to me, now once the razor comes back from vortex with upgraded turret I think I’ll be happy
I bought a XRS3 and the Razor 3 in the same week, for my needs at the time the razor fit the bill better for ELR but when the new reticle comes out this summer for the xrs3 I plan on getting a new one.
I was sticking it on my ELR rifle, the to me the glass was better at 2000 yards on the Vortex over the XRS, I like the .2 mil hold over hashmarks as well. Plus i wanted the added weight to help reduce recoil more even though it wasn't a lot
@Center Mass, I forgot the most import reason why I got rid of it, Elevation travel. with 50MOA between the base and scope mount I couldn't get a 100 yard zero because I ran out of travel and I had to zero 1 mil high.
IMHO it isn’t. Especially the Gen 2 Cronus with better turrets and APRS6.
Only thing the XRS3 is superior to the Cronus with is locking turrets and eye box/relief. Glass is a wash.
Not sure if you can the scope for that one, that's a ton of moa out of the gate. But I do appreciate the comparison between the 2 in you previous post.

I had a Cronus and I honestly think that is one of the best scopes for the money I say it competes with $2k optics and I've went as far as saying does very well against the atarc. But overall I love the xrs3 I love the g4 reticle for shooting long range out to 2k its not as cluttered and very clean. The turrets are not the best but for me not a huge issue for long range work I do. Honestly I would look at the reticles and if you want a locking turret. I wouldn't be with out my xrs3 now and something pretty shiny would have to steer me away from it.
People are always selling & buying scopes. I’m selling a new XRS3 in the px for $1550 shipped with Aadmount caps. Yes the xtr3 clearance was good & maybe a small part. I got an xtr3 USA model for $1100 but I got my XRS3 for $1550. The XRS3 imo is worth the extra $450 over the xtr3. The xtr3 had better FOV & the xrs3 has better optics. Now you can’t get the USA made xtr3 which was a big reason for my purchase. I would keep the XRS3 but I’m buying a zco 8-40x & XTR Pro. New stuff comes out people sell stuff to try the new. At $1550 the XRS3 is tough to beat especially since the xtr3 is no longer made in the USA.
I really want to like my XRS3, but I don't. The glass on my model is not as good as the Vortex Viper PST 2's I have looked through. It is bad enough that I cannot see impacts on steel at 500-700 yards that I can clearly see with the two first gen Athlon Cronus's that I was using, and am now back to using. I moved the XRS3 down to my Rimx and still could not see impacts with the 22lr (on steel) that I could see with my Athlon Ares BTR. I like the turrets and reticle, not the glass. I am sending it back to Bushnell for an inspection to see why it apparently seems to be stuck on "mirage vision" mode. In no way is the glass of this sample in the same league as my Razor Gen 2, Athlon Cronus x2, Athlon Ares ETR, Nightforce ATACR 7-35's or even my old Weaver Tactical 6-30.

Yeah you must have a bad one. But I also noticed that in the bushnell it takes more time fine tuning. I love mine glass is awesome. My dad has the Athlon Cronus gen 2 great scope but the xrs3 is better in the glass.
If the xrs3 is not better than your pst2 then it’s broken. The pst2 is not even close to mine. Compared to my mk5hd 35x & xtr3 the xrs3 has the better optics. I’ve seen my neighbors xrs3 too & his is better also
That was a sale price. Go to bushnell right now, it’s $1700. They all have been selling used in px around $1200-1500 depending on conditions
that sale is permanent if you have Onx Elite. since you obviously don't know, don't try and act like an expert. anyone can spend the 100$ on OnX Elite and get it for that price today for all 9 in stock and turn around and make 250 per in the px.
again, if people want to pay way above market then good for them. but ~1275 pre tax is the current market price. ~1375 after onx and purchase, still well below 1500 used for a brand new one
You are right I didn’t know about onx. So you pay $100 a year for the membership & pay $1375 for an XRS3. That is a good deal. Do you get 25% off more than 1 item or is it a 1x use thing then a smaller discount on other items
no, it is unlimited use and applies to everything on their site so it is not specific to glass
I agree. I traded my PST2 for a DMRII and it is significantly better. The XRS3 is levels above the PST2.
At $1375 + tax if your state has sales tax which would make it $1475 all in to $1550 which I have found at a couple of shops the XRS3 is hard to beat for the $$. I would put the xtr3 next for best scope for the $$ but it sucks they are now being made in the Philippines because being made in the USA was huge reason for me buying & keeping it. Then the xrs2, dmr pro, or btr gen2 depending on how good a deal you can find now. The mk5hd makes a great lightweight hunting to long range crossover scope. Lots of great scopes for $$ now. BigJimFlash has a great review on how the xrs3 compares to other scopes & I think he is right on the $$ with his review. As for the $1375-1475 price, if most people don’t know about this program & they don’t advertise it on bushnells site then $1700 is still the price until more people find out about the program. Everyone I have messaged never heard about this program even ones I would call experts. I only found 2-3 shops selling for $1550 & most shops are at $1700 with no mention of the discount price. Used they sell $1200-1500. My guess is that word will spread about this program & bushnell will have to make a choice to lower the advertised price or end the sale price on the high end or lower the sale amount. I am just an amateur shooter who buys a lot of scopes from cheap to expensive & enjoys using & comparing them. I can’t wait to test the xtr pro & zco 40x to see how they compare to the xrs3 & xtr3

The discount price is $1275 + tax & a $100 membership fee. So most states will pay $1475 from bushnell with the membership deal. If your state has no tax then it’s great. You can find better deals than the sale if your state has sales tax. If you live in a blue state try to avoid taxes. Brunos has the xrs3 for $1400 no tax or $1400 from me with Aadmount caps
