Just got my first chassis and man, this thing has adjustments! Length of pull and cheek piece I get, but the vertical on the butt pad is confusing me. Is there a method or personal preference?

Pretty much all those adjustments are personal preference and to help facilitate a consistent cheek weld and eye relief. The vertical adjustment on the butt pad is the same. It can help people with certain body types, if you have a very tall scope setup for ELR shooting, shooting with body armor, or helping with more contact with the butt pad while shooting prone. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just adjust to where you can maintain the most consistency during shooting. You're most important adjustments are going to be the length of pull and cheek piece placement/height.

generally for most people.......if you are shooting exclusively prone, youll want to raise the buttpad uppward( to "lower" the rifle)......if you shoot exclusively offhand, youll want to drop the buttpad downward( to "raise" the rifle)......and if you shoot a mix youll want to leave it roughly in the middle..

the whole point of these stocks is to adjust them to fit us perfectly.......however theyll only fit perfectly in 1 position.....so keep that in mind when making adjustments.........if you are shooting PRS, youll need to get into a few positions and try it out.......ide reccomend for any adjustment you make, try it in the prone position, the kneeling position, and the standing position before you lock everything down....its not going to fit perfectly in every position, so youll need to compromise a little in all of them.

I've even see stocks where the butt pad rotates/cants as well as going up and down. Sometimes these mult-adjustable stocks it seem a little gimicky, but some of those adjustments are spot on.
