I am currently the proud owner of a gen 2 RPR and buying a new 6.5 creedmoor this weekend. I am really thinking about the Bergara HMR or the Tikka T3x CTR. Right now I think that both are great rifles, from what I can tell, and both would serve the dual role they will be filling. But I do have some concerns.

For the Bergara, from what I have heard, they are patterned after the Rem 700 so I should be able to get replacement barrels, chassis and the like pretty easy. Has anyone confirmed this? Also is it possible to put a barrel nut type system on so I can do my own barrel changes?

For the Tikka the only negative I can come up with is those damn Mags until I put it in a new stock/chassis.

Opinions please

My opinion: Tikka. Better trigger number one, and I happen to like CTR mags as well. I've ran 4 different CTRs so far, and never had any magazine related failures. Actually no failures involving anything. People have tried to shoe horn a double stack mag into a 700 clone action, with limited success. Have you messed with either? Action smoothness, trigger, etc? As far as aftermarket parts for Tikka, I'm running a Bartlein barrel in a McMillan A5, my father has a CTR in a Manners T4A, one of my buddies has one in a MPA BA chassis, and another is ordering a KRG XRay. There's also a barrel nut setup available for them now, put on the barrel of your choice at home. User interchangeable bolt handles and shrouds, user adjustable trigger..

All of the Bergara's have a coned bolt and breech, and so I don't know if they are compatible with a Remington barrel nut system. The cone looks very shallow, so maybe it works but you don't get the three rings of steel type thing. A better gunsmith (or an actual one) would need to weigh in on this.

I have a Bergara B14 Timber and absolutely love it. Action is incredibly smooth and the trigger is fantastic, easily the best I have had on a factory rifle. I don't own a Tikka but am looking at the CTR and HMR as my next rifle, so I am interested in how this thread goes.

Thanks guys. I went yesterday and handled them all. Will be buying one Friday! I think it's going to be the HMR.
