Does anyone know if a M1A national match or Super Match can be used in the standard m14/m1a match? Im attending next year with a friend and was a lttle confused with what information I was able to find on google.

Thanks

Re: CAMP PERRY m1a question

I asked the same questions on the CMP Forum, the answer I got was "NO".

You can shoot the Heavy or Super Match in the NM Courses or EIC matches but not the Springfield M1A, match.

The MIA Match is a NRA Event, not a CMP event.

Re: CAMP PERRY m1a question

I've shot in the two of the four M1A matches so far at Perry, the first one 4 years ago, and this year. Most folks shoot a standard service rifle configured M1a, be it a rack M1a to a NM M1a with the usual service rifle provisions. This year, they also had a separate category for the Socom m1as. The match was shot all from the 300yd line, with the 300 yd rapid prone target this year.

Re: CAMP PERRY m1a question

I am aware of NO rule that states you cannot use a NM M1a. If that is the case, probably half the field of competitors is DQd as almost everyone I know that shoots the M1a match is using "NM" M1as as that is what most of us have and this match is one of the few matches you can shoot them and not be outgunned by the mouseguns.

If there is a rule that says you cant, lets see it, cause it will be news to me.

Re: CAMP PERRY m1a question

Looks like I got some bad information about the Super Match in M1A matches.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">3.1(b) U.S. Rifle, Caliber 7.62 mm M-14 - Must be no more than 2 inches wide at a point immediately to the
rear of the front band, no more than 2.5 inches wide at the front and rear of the receiver, and have a continuous
taper from receiver to front band. Width at receiver may be carried through to the butt plate, which may be the flat
M-1 or hinged M-14 plate, which will be used only in the folded position. In all courses and in all positions the
standard 10 or 20-round box magazine or a reduced capacity magazine of the same external dimensions will be
allowed.</div></div>

My Super or Heavy match measures 1.835 at the barrel ban and 2.40 at the reciever.

Re: CAMP PERRY m1a question

I remember when that rule came out (1993/4), I had just gotten my NM stock from Numrich Arms and spent 4 days sanding on it to get it into "specs". Nobody even measured it.

Cheers,
