Hunting & Fishing camping out on next hunt need advice

So my brother in law and I were thinking about taking his two sons hunting and we talked about camping out for a couple days . My big question is simply how far out should we stay away from our expected hunting ground to keep from spooking the deer in the area. Obviously we have no intention on being rowdy and I have read mixed reviews on the effect of camp fires in spooking deer. All my previous hunts have been on priveatly owned farm land, been more like target practice with movers. Any info is welcomed and any advice on must have gear is welcomed as well

Guess it depends on how much noise you make. I've had many deer and elk run through camp while camping out. Shoot a couple years ago, I was hunting in the Big Horns with my Granddaughter. She threw snowballa at a moose who walked through camp while she was building snowmen. I like hunting with horses, they warn you when critters come through camp.

Just be reasonable and don't worry about it.

More than likely it wont be you that spooks off the deer, it will probably be the hoards of other hunters wandering around that spook them off.

Completely agree. Camping out for hunting is 1/2 the fun.

I had a 1 year old moose trot by me about 15 yards away two days ago. I was swinging a sledgehammer at the time. Lots of people like camping in hunting country because you never know when you can shoot your game right from the camp.Don't go tearing around in quads or play loud music. That ways you might get lucky before breakfast.

I have slept for 5 years straight in one of these, woken up with 3" of snow on me, in sub zero weather, rain, you name it, if you are gonna sleep outside, or in a tent, bedrolls are the ONLY way to go! Kenny Tipton is a damned good guy to deal with too. Get the 18oz you wont be dissapointed

It depends how far you go in, but camping roughly .5 miles from a intended hunting area is fine. Heck this year I killed my buck while setting up the tent!

We hunt from camp and head roughly 1 mile away to our honey hole. we would camp closer, but that is as far as we can go.

Around my parts, if your willing to hike in 3 miles, you will be alone. I find most of your average hunters will hike about 1.5 to 3 miles from camp or the truck before Turing back. 3-4 and you have it to your selves. Mileage in your area may very.

I hiked my ass off this year and ended up shooting my buck a couple hundred yards from the base camp where we had the trucks parked and make all kinds of racket all week....
